The well known German Forst 

 Master Steingass who was a

man of practicality, inspired 

 Krieghoff in the Nineteen Twenties

 to develop the Krieghoff Short-

 Drilling. Steingass considered 

 this the most practical every day

 gun for professional hunters in

 Europe.

 In his memory we gave our

 PLUS-20 TS with full length

 stocking the same name. The 

“Steingass” is without doubt one 

of the most suited drillings for

 practical use.

The Krieghoff Drillings provide the ultimate in versatility and the

 greatest utility in the Krieghoff hunting gun line. Combining 3

barrels in one gun, consisting of two shotgun barrels in a side by side

configuration and one rifle barrel centered below, a drilling is a very

universal gun by design.

With more than a century of tradition in fine gun making the name

 Krieghoff is connected in many parts of the world with European hunting 

 guns and particular drillings. Krieghoff has established a superb “tradition

of performance” – a tradition built on technical innovation that sets new

 standards of quality, safety, reliability, and accuracy.

The PLUS Drilling by Krieghoff is built with maximum utility in mind and is able

to handle a broad array of hunting situations. Although, drillings are looking 

back at a long history, the PLUS is very modern by design and has a number of 

innovative features.

The patented Kickspanner Combi-Cocking Device

 Krieghoff has equipped the PLUS with a manual cocking device that combines

the speed advantage of a self-cocking gun with the ultimate in safety. The

combi-cocking device is quick and convenient to use and operates very much

like a conventional safety.

You carry the PLUS with the twin hamm ers uncocked – the safest position since

there is no chance of an accidental discharge caused by a worn safety catch or 

by dropping a cocked gun.

When you are ready to fire, you cock the PLUS with a single smooth movement 

of the cocking device, which is located on the top tang, in the position usually

occupied by a conventional safety.

 If an opportunity passes and you do not fire the gun, simply uncock the

 hammers by pushing the Kickspanner all the way forward to disengage it and 

then sliding it to the rear, into the uncocked, safe position.

With most manual cocking devices, the gun must be recocked each time it 

is reloaded, which could cost critical seconds in some hunting situations.

 Krieghoff’s combi-cocking device combines the safety advantages of manual 

cocking with the speed advantage of a self-cocking gun. As long as the

combi-cocking device is left in the forward, cocked po sition, the gun recocks automatically when it is opened and reloaded. It is then ready to fire again

when closed.

When the cocking device is in its rear, safe position, the PLUS is uncocked and 

remains uncocked regardless of opening and closing.

The Universal-Trigger-System

The PLUS comes standard with the Universal-Trigger-System which was

developed by Krieghoff to provide what many consider the finest triggers

 available in a modern combination gun. Heavy triggers in any gun can impair 

both speed and accuracy in getting off the shot, but the Krieghoff system

 provides crisp, clean trigger pulls reminiscent of your best sidelock.

The Thermo-Stable (TS) configuration

The thermo-stable barrel configuration for the PLUS is the culmination of 

decades of experience in building fine drillings plus the never ending pursuit 

by Krieghoff to find modern solutions which serve our customers’ needs in

better ways.

 Multi-barreled combination guns with conventionally soldered ba rrels have

the inherent problem that the group will spread whenever several rounds are

 fired in rapid succession. This is due to physical principles that barrel steel is

expanding when it gets hot through shooting which then causes lateral torque

in a multi-barrel combination a nd adversely influences the grouping and 

 accuracy.

The solution is a drilling with a free-floating rifle barrel. This idea is not completely new, not even for Krieghoff which has offered drillings with free-

 floating barrels for over thirty years, but Krieghoff ’s engineers took the idea a

considerable step further.

 Integrated in the middle hanger is a 3-point screw adjustment which allows to

easily fine tune the regulation of the rifle barrel. And since the rifle barrel is

not directly connected with the shotgun barrels it makes the entire barrel set 

“thermo-stable”. The rifle barrel can torque-free expand when shot in rapid 

 succession and likewise the shotgun barrels do not affect the rifle barrel when

they get hot.

 Scope Mounts

The addition of a good scope and mount extends the range and maximizes the

 accuracy of any drilling. Krieghoff recommends the modern and reliable Pivot 

 Mounts for your valuable PLUS. These mounts are quick detachable and will 

 keep the scope zeroed even after extensive use.

 Krieghoff Insert Barrels

- further enhancing the PLUS versatility

 Insert Barrels which are available from Krieghoff in a number of smaller 

calibers were primarily designed for the use in drillings. Krieghoff inserts havebeen popular for many years and the following models are available now.

The short EL-22 in .22 LR or .22 Win.Mag. is particularly handy and can be

conveniently stored in an optional buttplate magazine when not being used.

The medium length EL-44 offers better efficiency over the EL-22 and comes

 also in .22 LR or .22 Win.Mag.

The top performer is the full length EL-65 available in .22 Win.Mag., .22

 Hornet, 6x70R, .222 Rem., 5.6x50R Mag., 5.6x52R. The EL-65 offers a

maximum of versatility in a drilling. It can easily transform a conventional 

drilling into a Bock Drilling with two different rifle calibers.

 All insert barrels can be fit to 12 gauge, 16 gauge, or 20 gauge shotgun barrels.

Once properly fitted, the inserts produce excellent accuracy. They will stay

 zeroed even when removed and re-inserted.
