days and long nights taking a toll on our health and well being.
Spring weather is still a solid eight to ten weeks away. Not a long time, but long enough. So, in the mean-time, what are you doing to make the best of these winter months?
My suggestion is to “Step it up!”
This is not only a great time, but may-be the best time of year to work on your dance skills and conditioning. Since we usually have less things compet-ing with our time during the winter months my thought is to put these dark
gray days to good use doing some-thing inside that we love.
Set yourself up with some regular les-sons or recurring classes. There are a bunch of new stu-dios popping up that have some great dance spac-es along with the many, long stand-ing Long Island Stu-dios that have been teaching locals to dance for decades.
Figure out where you would like your dancing to be come the spring and sum-mer, so you can ready yourself for the many events and activities that take place during the warm weather. Add to this maybe a visit to the gym once or twice week, mak-ing yourself stron-ger and ultimately a better dancer for it.
It’s kind of a twist on the idea of shed-ding those extra winter pounds so you are ready for your bathing suit
and the beach come summer time. By stepping it up now however, you will win on multiple levels. The winter will feel shorter as you look forward to your classes week after week. You will find yourself getting better and stronger if you stick with it, kicking the Spring off with much more spring in your step.
At the risk of over-using the word “spring”, let’s just say this is the per-fect time of year to use as a spring board into summer season.
Take advantage of these winter days and you will en-hance that time of the year we all enjoy the most by having a few more dance steps in your bag and being a better and fitter you. Don’t be that person that talks about it with-out taking action and remember the
adaptation to the quote by Joseph Addison that he penned for his play Cato, back in 1712.
