Baldwin students also have the option of studying Language Acquisition in French or Spanish as a Second Language (SSL)
Electives in the MYP● Sixth and seventh grade students will enjoy 2
rotating exploratory courses per year (1 per semester). For the 6th and 7th grade, the elective options are Music, Art, French and Drama.
● Eighth grade electives are year-round and include Drama, Robotics, Art, French and Beginner’s Band.
● 8th - 10th grade elective options include Dance, Drama, Robotics, Art, French, Design Technology, International Relations, Economics, Cine y Literatura, Physical Fitness, and Band.
Community ServiceEncouraged and aligned with the Baldwin requirement:
6th grade: 5 hours
7th grade: 10 hours
8th grade: 15 hours
9th grade: 20 hours
10th grade: 25 hours
Personal Project● completed in 10th grade● individual body of work produced over an extended period
of time● students explore a topic they are passionate about● students learn to take a project to fruition, from
conceptualization to realization● students demonstrate their ability to reflect deeply on
the learning process● project culminates in a presentation to the school

The MYP is Alive at Baldwin!● 100% of teachers have:

● ongoing professional development in-house and abroad
● Classrooms updated to facilitate student-centered teaching & learning

● The DP curriculum aims to develop in students the ability to reason for themselves, rather than merely accumulate facts.
● It aims to enhance awareness of our common humanity, to encourage a sense of social responsibility, and to prepare students for higher education.
● It allows students the freedom to pursue their own needs and interests within a framework of a properly
balanced education.

Sample Student Schedule Full Diploma
Benefits of the Full Diploma-Colleges and Universities recognize the high potential for success of students who have been enrolled in IB DP courses.
-There is substantial college credit for IB coursework, exams and the completed diploma. Some universities may award up to 1.5 years of college credit (this varies with each university). Scholarships are also awarded in some states to full diploma recipients.
-The DP program helps to develop skills that prepare students for the rigor of college and professional life: time management skills, organizational skills, writing skills, problem solving and analytical skills, research skills, communication skills, interdisciplinary focus.
