Important Safeguards

PleasereadandfollowtheinstructionsregardingSelectAirmattressandoverlaysystemsandretainthismanualforfuturereference.Followallwarningsandinstructionsmarkedonthecontrolunitandmattressaswellasthoselistedinthismanual. Note: DONOTplaceliquidsontopofthecontrolunit.

HandlingHandlethecontrolunitwithcare.Droppingitmaycauseinternaldamageandcancausethecontrolunittomalfunction.

Note: DO NOT use a control unit if it appears to be damaged. Consult anauthorizedROHO/SelectAirdistributor.

Dust or DirtKeep the SelectAir control unit away from excessive dust or dirt, which can causeprematurefailure.Thecontrolunit issuppliedwithareplaceableair filter thatshouldbereplacedevery90daysundernormalconditions.Theairfiltershouldbeinspectedandcleanedeverymonthundernormalconditions,andmorefrequentlywhenusedinabnormallydustyordirtyenvironments.

CleaningUnplug the control unit from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use harsh liquidchemicals, cleaning solvents or aerosol cleaners. Water and a mild dish washingdetergentmaybeusedonasoft,dampclothorpapertowel.PleaserefertoSection8.

AccessoriesDonotplacethecontrolunitonanunstablesurfacebecauseitmayfall,causingseveredamage to the control unit. Use only manufacturer-recommended accessories.Anymountingof thecontrolunitmust followthemanufacturer’s instructions.Thehospitalbedfootboardmustbeabletosupportthecontrolunitandanyadditionalweight.

Heat and VentilationRefer topage�of thismanual foroperatingandstorage limits. It is important thatthisopening isnotblockedor coveredduringoperation.Thecontrolunit shouldnotbeplacedinabuilt-ininstallation,suchasaclosetorrackunlessproperventilationisprovided.

Power SourcesThecontrolunitshouldonlybeoperatedfromanappropriateACoutletcapableofsafelydeliveringatleastthree(3)ampsofelectricalcurrent.Ifyouarenotsureofthetypeofpowersupplyavailable,consultyourROHO/SelectAirdistributororacertifiedelectrician.

OverloadingOverloadingwalloutletscanresultinariskoffireorelectricshock.Asinglegroundedextensioncord (threewireswithgroundedplugs)of less than25 feet (7.6meters) inlengthandwithaminimumofa�5ampratingcanbeusedwiththecontrolunit.

ServicingDonotattempttoservicethiscontrolunityourself.Openingorremovingthecovermayexposeyoutohazardousvoltages.ReferallservicingtoyourROHO/SelectAirdistributor.Breakingorremovingcalibrationsealsvoidsthewarrantyofthecontrolunit.

Mattress StorageCleananddisinfectproductasperthisoperationmanualandstoreinadryenvironmentatroomtemperature.

Replacement PartsWhenreplacementpartsarerequired,besure that thecontrolunitusesreplacementpartsfromthemanufacturer.Unauthorizedsubstitutionswillvoidthewarranty.

Safety CheckUpon completion of any service to this product, the ROHO/SelectAir distributor mustperformsafetycheckstodeterminethattheproductisinasafeoperatingcondition.

Interference Thecontrolunitisdesignedtopreventradiationofradio-frequencyenergy.Thereisnoguarantee thatcommunicationsorother radio-frequency interferencewillnotoccur inaparticular installation. If thiscontrolunitdoescauseharmful interference to radioortelevision reception, which can be determined by turning the control unit off and on,theuserisencouragedtotrytocorrecttheinterferencebyoneormoreofthefollowingsteps:

• Makesureelectricalcordisproperlygrounded.• Relocatethereceivingantennaofthedeviceaffected.• Increasetheseparationbetweenthecontrolunitandthedeviceaffected.• Connectthecontrolunittoanoutletthatisonadifferentcircuitthanthedevicebeing

affected.

A. When using the Mattress Cover with Mattress Replacement: Whilethemattressisinflating,itmaybehelpfultopartiallyunzipthecoverand guidethemattressintothecorrectformation.

�. Alwaysremovetheexistingmattressfromthebed.

�. Beforeplacingmattress insidemattresscover,ensure thatall foursidebolsterstraps(twoperside)aresecuringsidebolsterstomattresssectionsandVelcro®fastenersaremated.

3.Insertthemattressandmattresspadinsidethemattresscoverandzipthecovershut.Placeon thebed frame.Besure thehole in themattresscover is in thecorrectpositiontofitaroundthehosefittingoutletonthemattress.

4. Strapthecovertothebedframeusingthefourstrapslocatedoneachsideofthemattresscover.

5.Afterinflatingthemattressoverlay,securethemattresssheettothemattress.

6.RemovetheROHOHIGHPROFILEcushionandplaceonchairtoprovide continuedskinprotectionwhilepatientisseatedinachair.Readjustthecushion forthepatientaccordingtothecushion'sinstructions.

Control Unit-All Models

�. Place the control unit handle over theedge of the footboard. The handle willselfadjust to thewidthof the footboard(fig.3).

�. Insert the hose fitting with the clip intotheairoutletofthecontrolunitandturn�/4turn.Ensurethehosefittingisfirmlyseated and that the latch ‘clicks’ intoplace(fig.4).

3. Inserttheotherendofthehoseintothemattresshosefittinglocatedatthefootofthemattress(fig.4).

4. Ensurethepowerentryswitchis“OFF”.

6. Insert the other end of the power cord into an equivalent grounded powerreceptacle.

5. Determine the patient’s weight and set the Comfort Level using the ComfortLevel “Softer” and “Firmer” buttons to the matching information on the ComfortLevelChart(pg.13).Seesection12forinstructionsonhowtomanuallyinputthepatient'sweightontheBariSelectmodel.

Note: Due to the different shapes and sizes of each patient, the settingsrecommended on the Comfort Level Chart are only a guideline. UserjudgementmustbeappliedtoproperlyadjusttheComfortLeveltothesettingthatbestsuitsthepatient.

6. Allow air in themattress to equalize for aminimum of two (2)minutes beforeproceeding.

Comfort Level Reference Chart Note: Thesechartsareonlyaguidelinebecauseweightdistributionvaries frompatienttopatient.

9. Followfacilityprotocol,applicablelawsandregulations,andindividualusersafetyconsiderationsforusageofbedframesiderails.

7. Checktoensurethatthepatienthasimmersedintothemattressabout40–50%.Iftheyhavenot,adjusttheComfortLevelusingtheComfortLevel“Softer”and“Firmer”buttonsandrepeatsteps6and7untiltheproperresultsareachieved.

8. Once the desired setting is found, check to see if there is adequate clearancebetweenthepatientandthebedframebyplacingyourhandbetweenthepatientandthebedframe.Thereshouldbe3-4inches(7-10cm)ofclearance,andthepatientshouldnotbetouchingthebedframeatanypoint.AdjusttheComfortLevelsettinguntiltheproperresultsareachieved.

Maintenance

Control UnitsAll control units are designed to be virtually maintenance free. The only servicingrequirediscleaningofthehousingandchangingthefilter.

Note: Thecontrolunitcontainsnootheruserserviceablepartsanditshouldonlybeopenedbyqualifiedservicepersonnel.

Fuse DANGER: THEFUSEMUSTONLYBEREPLACEDWITHTHE PROPERFUSEASLISTEDONTHEINFORMATION LABEL.DONOTREPLACETHEFUSEWITHONE OFHIGHERVALUEOROFDIFFERENTTYPE.

Toreplacethefuse:

�.Turnoffthemainpowerswitchonthepowerentrymodule,locatedontheleftsideoftheunit.

�.Unplugthelinecordfromthewallsocket,removetheotherendfromthepowerentrymodule,andsetaside.

3.Insertasmallflatscrewdriverintotheslotlocatedatthetopofthepowerentrymoduleandcarefullyopenthefuseholderdoor.

Filter

Thefiltershouldbeinspectedandcleanedeverymonthundernormalconditions.Inspectfilterandcleanorreplaceasnecessary.Bariatricpatientsgenerallyrequirehigherairpressureforsupport,therefore,theairfiltershouldbeinspectedandreplacedmorefrequently.

Tocheckandchangethefilter:

�. Firmlypull forwardandthendownonthefiltertray located at the front of the control unit.Thefiltertraywillautomaticallystopinthefullyopenedposition(fig.11).It isnotnecessarytocompletelyremovethefiltertray.

Important: Keepthefiltercleanandtheairopeningclearofobstacles.

2. Remove the filter from the filter tray (Fig. 12)by grabbing the filter by its edges andinspecttheconditionofthefilter.

Ifdirty,washthefilterinamilddetergent.Let the filter dry completely beforereplacingthefilterbackintothefiltertray.If the filter is torn or in bad condition,replaceitwithanewone.

Note: Donotusethecontrolunitwithoutafilter.

3. Replacethefilterbyfirmlypressingthefilterinaroundtheedgesinthefiltertray.

4. Ensurethefilterislayingflatandpushthefiltertrayupintothehousing.

TheROHOGroup,Inc.warrantstheSelectAirmattresssystems'controlunitsforaperiodoftwelve(12)monthsfromdateofpurchase.Themattress,coverandallothermattresssystemcomponentswillbewarrantedforaperiodoftwelve(12)months.

TheROHOGroup,Inc.warrantstheHybridSelectLowAirLossMattressOverlaySystemandControlUnitforaperiodoftwelve(12)monthsfromdateofpurchase.TheHybridSelectmattressoverlay,coverandallotheroverlaysystemcomponentswillbewarrantedforaperiodoftwelve(12)months.EXCEPTION:TheROHOHIGHPROFILEcushion(HealFloatfeature).Refertothecushion’soperationsmanualforitsspecificlimitedwarranty.

TheROHOGroup, Inc.will repair or replace (at itsoption)anycomponents that, uponexaminationbyaROHO/SelectAirrepresentativeoragent,arefoundtobedefectivewithinthelimitsofthewarranty.
