AMK in close cooperation with ex-GTZ, now- GIZ as a partner is promoting Energy efficiency in the local level since 2006

Municipalities are the biggest energy consumer in public sector. They are energy producer and consumer on the same time.

Law on energy efficiency – No.04/L-016 recently approvedLaw on energy No 03/L-184• Article 4 and 6, emphasizes the role of local governments in drafting and implementing energy strategy , programs for strategy implementation and energy balance for their municipalities.Law on electrical energy No.03/L-201 •Article 16,1.16 Emphasizes the role of distribution system to support municipalities in drafting municipal plans, program, or developing strategies.Construction law 2004/15 •Among other it emphasizes the use of energy efficient materials. MESP regulation- Regulation on thermal protection of buildings, and -Other Administrative Instructions for energy auditing, use of RES, energy labeling, and end use consumers, etc.
