Greetings from Taiwan

Taiwan: an island on the west of the Pacific rim, the

southeastern coast of mainland Asia.

What is “Inter-professional

Education”?

• Occasions when two or more professions

learn from and about each other to improve

collaboration and the quality of care

• A continuum of Inter-professional

Education throughout qualifying program

and continuing professional development

3

Inter-professional Education

• Occurs when two or more professions learn about,

from and with each other to enable effective

collaboration and improve patient outcome.

• Collaborative practice in health-care occurs when

multiple health workers from different

services by working with patients, their families,

carers and communities to deliver the highest

quality of care across settings.

License Renewal Policy

• The license renewal policy for RNs in

Taiwan was incorporated into the Nurses’

Act on January 29, 2007 following many

years of review in the Legislative Yuan.

The policy stipulates that practicing nurses

must complete a required minimum of 150

continuing education credits over a six-

year period in order to renew their

To meet nurses’ license renewal needs and

to help make various administrative

procedures easier for nurses working difficult

shifts or in remote or rural areas, TWNA

developed the E-learning Web. According to

current regulations, nurses can earn up to 30

continuing education (CE) credits via e-

learning over a six-year period.
