The Rosary 21 st October, 2016 The sun shone on Tuesday as we began our Golden Jubilee celebrations. We welcomed Cardinal Vincent Nichols who led the very special Mass at the church of Our Lady Queen of Apostles. He touched the hearts of all those who were in attendance when he spoke so eloquently about Our Lady. It was brilliant to see Jenny Bashford, Angela Brennan, Fr Michael Tuck, past teachers, governors and friends who have all helped to make The Rosary such a special school over the last 50 years. The children, as always were wonderful. We returned to the school for a cream tea and had the opportunity to reminisce over the past 50 years as we looked at the display of photographs presented in decades. We also took some time to remember Canon Peter Moore who was so instrumental in building and naming the school. The Rosary 21st October, 2016

The sun shone on Tuesday as we began our Golden Jubilee celebrations. We welcomed Cardinal Vincent Nichols who led the very special Mass at the church of Our Lady Queen of Apostles. He touched the hearts of all those who were in attendance when he spoke so eloquently about Our Lady. It was brilliant to see Jenny

Bashford, Angela Brennan, Fr Michael Tuck, past teachers, governors and friends who have all helped to make The Rosary such a special school over the last 50 years. We returned to the school for a cream tea and had the opportunity to reminisce over the past 50 years as we looked at the display of photographs presented in decades. Aspire, Believe,

Achieve: Together

in Christ

A special thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make

the day such a success. It was a very special day and we will remember it

for years to come.

We received the following thank you letter from Ian and Helen Macklearn,

which sums up our special day of celebration.

Weekly Prayer and Reflection – 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gospel: Luke 18:9-14

This week Jesus tells us a story about a Pharisee and a Tax

Collector and we learn how to pray and have a good heart.

The Pharisee goes to the Temple to pray, but what does he

say and dow does he feel? The Pharisee is full of pride. He

thinks he’s brilliant, that he’s done everything right and

that God must love him very much. Then a tax collector

comes to pray. But what does he say and how does he feel? The tax collector is humble

and ashamed. He knows he has done wrong and he seeks God’s forgiveness.

Jesus wanted the Pharisees (religious leaders) and us, to understand that the things we say when we pray

are not as important as what is in our hearts and what we are thinking and feeling deep down. The

Pharisees thought that the way to enter God’s kingdom was by keeping a lot of rules and making new

rules. The Pharisees thought that all the people who didn’t keep their rules were unacceptable to God.

There is nothing wrong with rules. Every family, school, church and organisation has them. Rules are

necessary, aren’t they? Why do you think we need some rules in life? Rules are here to guide us and they

should help us think about what other people need. We should always be concerned about other people.

There is something wrong with thinking that we are better than other people just because we keep certain

rules. We all do things wrong sometimes. We need to own up and ask forgiveness and accept that

although others are different to us, God loves us all equally.

This week think about how you can show love and kindess to someone in your family, not just with words

but with actions. Also, try not to judge others just because they do things differently to you. We must try

to treat all people with kindness and respect, and ask God to help us to become better.

All-powerful God, help us to know when we are being proud or lack mercy and

forgiveness towards others. Help us to do what is pleasing to you. Amen

London’s Burning!

The children in Year 2 (Panda & Giraffe classes) have been

learning about the Great Fire of

London. They made Tudor Houses

and then recreated the Great Fire

of London. Luckily, they had

brought ‘buckets’ of water to help

put the fire out. We are pleased to

report that there were no casualties

and the fire was put out safely.

Reception Curriculum Talk There will be a Curriculum Talk for Reception Parents on Thursday 3rd November in the Infant Hall at 9am.

Parents are reminded that they have to complete and submit the Pan London E-admission form on

line via their local authority by 31st October. Parents can begin completing the form now, save

their details and then submit it once they are happy with their choices and the order they have put

their choices in. In addition to this, parents applying to Catholic schools will also need to complete

the Supplementary Information Forms for each school they nominate and return them directly to

the schools, with their certificate of Catholic Practice and any other documentation the school asks

for. Please check the closing date for applications with the school as these may differ from the

Local Authority.

Parking

All parents are asked to show due care and consideration when dropping off and

collecting their children from school. This morning Mrs Paczek had to speak to

several parents who thought it was ok to park on the yellow zig zag lines, block our

neighbour’s drives and making it very dangerous for children coming to school.

We are very lucky to have the use of the church car parks. Please DO NOT COME

DOWN THE GREEN, but drive down Winchester and Eton Avenue to access the

church car parks. Thank you.

And Finally :

Don’t forget the clocks go back an hour on Sunday

30th October at 2am.
