Amidst the damages brought
about by the storm, the motto of Rotaract still lives on in the hearts of its leaders through the birth of Task Force Habagat.
Task Force Habagat is a series of relief operations that focused on two areas: Manila and Cavite. Each area were supervised by its respective District Rotaract Area Representatives (Alia Macalawi for Manila and Miko Quijano for Cavite).
District Rotaract Representa-tive Mark Hernandez and Char-ter President Vincent Roman, together with other Rotaractors, came up with this project after a relief operation was conducted by the Rotaract Club of Manila headed by Peacebuilder Presi-dent Jarl Gamonez.
This project resulted to the Relief Fund which will be used to arrange donations, both in-kind and in cash, for future calamities and emergencies.
The following is the list of activ-ities that happened during Task Force Habagat:
August 10: Repacking of relief goods at JSA Building, Cubao to-gether with SDG John Ang and the Rotarians of Rotary Interna-tional District 3810.
August 11: Relief operation at Tondo, Manila together with the Rotarians of RI District 3810; Re-packing of relief goods at the Rota-ry Center of RI District 3780 under the supervision of DRR Aya Corpuz and Rotaractors and Rotar-ians from RI District 3780.
August 12: Relief operation at Barangay Tumana, Marikina with PDRR Rowena of RI District 3800.
August 19: Relief operation at Maliputo, Navotas with DRAR Alia Macalawi of the Rotaract Club of Manila Metro.
August 26: Donation of school supplies to the kids of Barangay
Tumana, Marikina with PDRR Rowena and the Rotaractors of RI District 3800.

the district to unite and to act as one through
participation in the future district events. The

DRR Mark Anthony Hernandez
Dreams really do come true.
Up to now, i still can't believe
that i have attained my dream
of becoming a DRR.
I started the Rotary year
with excitement and happi-
ness when i was sent to attend
the District Rotaract Elect
(DRRE) Training in Cagayan de Oro. The training
taught me many things, but what made me happiest
was the chance of meeting my counterparts in other
districts in the country. I’ve got new additions to my
Rotaract friends. ^___^
The beginning of the Rotary Year for me was real-
ly unforgettable. I've spent a significant day with the
Rotaract Club of Rosario Magdiwang where I deliv-
ered my first ever DRR' s speech along with no oth-
er than District Governor Maeng Mercado. :D
Days passed and i begin to feel the weight of my
responsibilities. Just what Spiderman's famous line,
"Great power comes great responsibility", i must say
that being the DRR is coupled with heavy responsi-
bilities and high expectations.
I've got to stand for my de-
cisions, bring with me tons
of patience, understanding
and friendliness, grace un-
der pressure and loads of
positivity. :$
Honestly, there had been a
point that i wanted to quit,
but then, my genuine
friends did not let me to
succumbed into my weak-
nesses. They did not got
tired of lifting up my spirits
and supporting me more
than I expected.
But aside from my sup-
porters (my friends), what
fuels me to strive and pur-
sue the DRRship is my ded-
ication and ardent desire to
serve and help other people.
Being also a teacher, i want
to share my knowledge and
inspire youth. I want to
share to other Rotaractors
the important learning

tional District 3810 Philippines represented by Rotaract District Director and incum-bent President of Rotaract Club of China-town-Manila John Alexiz Tan to extend our sincere appreciation to Rotary Interna-tional District 3300 headed by District Ro-taract Representative Eric Chan during their 44th District Rotaract Conference in Malaysia for sending financial assistance to aid the victims of heavy monsoon rain last August, 2012 in the Philippines.

what fuels me to strive
and pursue the DRRship
is my dedication and
ardent desire to serve
and help other people. “

I’ve realized when I joined
the organization- helping
others even in our own little
way is still significant and
might be deeply inspiring to
someone.
Indeed, for just six months,
i experienced a lot and these
experiences continuously
shape me.
I can say that I am still a
simple Rotaractor and I will
always be – a Rotaractor
that desires to serve and
make a difference.

still have 6 more months to
work for! Let's strive harder
and enjoy our service!

One best thing to end the year is to celebrate it with thanksgiving. A great experi-ence that was done by the Rotaractors of Dis-trict 3810 last December 8, 2012 at Asia Pacific College with the theme, ―SALAMAT: RAC3810 Thanksgiving Party‖ hosted by the Rotaract Clubs of Kabataang Maynila, Malate and University District Manila.
The event jumpstarted with a Call to Order by the host club presidents together with DRR Mark Anthony Hernandez, followed by an opening prayer lead by Rotaractor Rebecca Tibig from RAC Malate. The four-way test was recited by PbP John Sy from RAC UDM. PbP Juliet Padilla from RAC MALATE warmly wel-comes and greeted everyone as she shared how thankful she felt during that night. Next was the PROCON promotion from DRR Aya (RID3870).
A fun-filled night as everyone partici-pated in all the games that were especially pre-pared for them. The spirit of thanksgiving occu-pied completely the whole venue, DG Maeng serenades everyone with a heartfelt Christmas song. Then followed by a touching message from DRR Mark Anthony Hernandez and clos-ing remarks from PbP/DRRE Vincent Carlo Roman
Part of the program was a Thanksgiving toast
wherein each PBP’s and some Rotaractors was invited to
share simple things they are thankful for.

Upon boarding the ferry at around 6:00am we learned that PP Merville Vasquez from Rotaract Mamburao was also on the same boat. PP Merville and his wife our very own PDRR XY, hosted our stay at Mamburao.
As we reached Abra de Ilog Port at 8:56am, we further head-ed and travelled for almost 2 hours going to their resort house. We allotted our first day for the preparation of the 100 bags and rest to regain strength from our sleepless night.
After breakfast the next day, PP Merville sent us to our first stop at Mangyan tribe, Taguan community. Three volunteer teachers from Taguan Elementary School guided us as we walked for 2 hours an up and down and muddy rice field and mountain trails. We gave bags to 36 children from 2 to 14 years old. Everybody sang for us and one of the recited a short poem. After leaving a simple snack to them, we visited their school and assessed other things they need.
Our second stop was at Banilad Community which was a 3-hour drive away from Taguan. There we gave bags to 25 children at Banilad Elementary School. Our last stop was at Pola Community and we reached their school after crossing a river. We also handed up 29 bags to children. Elders from the three communities were very much thankful for the simple gifts.
We went back to the resort house with smiles in our faces and happiness in our hearts. We held a simple fellowship that night to cele-brate that long and tiring day.
On the morning of August 27, we went back to Manila bringing a lot of experiences and memories to share to everyone back home. Hopefully, we could return soon to bring more smiles and more hopes

METRO donates 100 „Bags of Hope‟ in Occidental Mindoro
“Not all of us can do great things, but all of us can do small things with great love.”- Mother Theresa
Last August 25-27, 2012, for the second wave of the Bag of Hope Project series, Rotaract Club of Manila Metro brought 100 bags containing note-books, coloring books, pad papers, pencils and cray-ons to three Mangyan communities at Occidental Min-doro. It may have been a simple way to help them for this school year, a small step to help them fulfill their big dreams and a small act to make the kids smile, but I believe that what matters is that our club mem-bers did it with great love.
It was late in the evening of August 24, 2012 when all of us met in Alabang, Muntinlupa carrying big boxes of school supplies. We waited for the 3am trip going to Batangas Pier. I was with fellow club mem-bers, including Rtn Chock Encabo, PDRR Erwin Macam, PP Cess Encabo, Rotaractors Jen Espiritu, Emon Panganiban and Sherilyn Berlaos. We arrived at 5:30 in the morning on August 25 at the port area and PDRR Sen Villanueva and her sister Jovy were already waiting in front of the ticket booth.
Mangyan kids of Taguan Community were so excited when they received the bags.

It all started with a vision to bring computer literacy at every
doorstep of underprivileged that turned into a reality when the Rotaract Club of STI-Makati launched Kompyuter Ko Pahiram Ko in 2005. This project aims to provide free computer education to less fortunate ones in communities where poverty offshoots illiteracy. Therefore we brought computer lessons to the streets and public schools. And now, Rotaract Club of STI College-Makati dared and faced their limits to bring computer literacy. Even in mountains, our devoted members carried 8 desktop computers and a printer to set up a mini Computer Learning Center in Brgy. San Miguel, Lo-bo, Batangas, a rural community with a thousand populations with almost 0% level of computer literacy. Kids had no any idea of how an actual computer looked like until the project came and vowed to end computer illiteracy among its residents. To start with the Computer Learning Center the Rotaract Club of STI College-Makati joined a partnership with the community. Barangay officials and public school teachers were given intensive computer training course under the teaching of the computer experts of our club members. The participants underwent a month -long training in computer hardware and software and computer applications. The participants –turned trainers are now giving a regular computer tutorial to the school children. The inauguration of the Computer Learning Center was graced by the municipal Mayor Efren B. Diona together with the Brgy. Captain Alberto M. Roxas in San Nicolas Batangas, Brgy. Cap-tain Orlando R. Arias in Balatbat Batangas, District Supervisor of DepEd Lobo Ms. Julita E. Ilagan, Mrs. Eldeliza L. Macutong Head Teacher I- Malabrigo Elementary School. Partners of the projects are the Rotary Club of Pasay Si-langan ,Rotary Club of Batangas City, Rotary Club of Sto. Tomas, Rotaract Club of Batangas , Rotaract Club of San Antonio De Padua, Brgy. San Miguel Council and King’s Development, Inc. The Rotaract Club of STI College-Makati has been awarded as Most Outstanding School-Based Rotaract Club of Rotary Interna-tional District 3810 for seven consecutive years since 2005.

Here in the Philippines we do not have war, liter-
ally speaking. We are not on absolute peace though.
Peace conflicts, as we say, still exists. The
―Mindanao Conflict‖ is one hot issue dating back to
the 1960s up to the present. The natives of Minda-
nao who became the minorities in their own ances-
tral lands crave for peace. The truth is, their situation
is the problem of all Filipinos; posing a challenge to
us, -―How do we respond?‖- we have a role in find-
ing a solution.
RAC-UN aims to create a world where everyone belongs. This
motto was made during the term of Past President Benazir Abdulwa-
hid, who also was our charter President. We are bound to continue
with this aspiration. We were named after United Nations Avenue
but we are not limited to that thought. It is but fit to us having mem-
bers coming from diverse fields and universities. The R.Y theme is
timely with the year’s historical ―Peace Resolution‖ moves from the
government and as a group composed of both Muslims and Chris-
tians originally, how could we do nothing?
With the help of our sponsoring Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Ba-
gumbayan Manila, we were able to find organizations in Muslim Min-
danao who were interested in starting with us moves to make our
peace advocacy run. RAC-UN is now in partnership with Youth
Growth Mindanao Organization and MYPEACE, both from Coto-
bato, Mindanao, composing of young Muslims gathering together to
make a difference.
Participants enthusiastically exchanged letters writing about how
they live, and shared on their curiosities on the life at the other end
of the country. “If you have time, you can come and we will tour you. You will
be amazed by the natural resources of Mindanao.”-an excerpt from one of
the letter sender from YGMO.
Project LIPAN might be considered as a speck in the nationwide
efforts in Peace resolutions. We are proud to say though that com-
munity project plans are now on its way between YGMO and RAC-
UN.
Project LIPAN indeed is a step forward in extending the Rotaract
deeds. We hope to make this initiative more useful in the future. #

RAC-UN Launches Project “LIPAN”
The Rotaract Club of United Nations launched last No-
vember 2012 project “LIPAN” which stands for Liham
Pangkapayapaan. It aims to create an atmosphere of respect,
trust and mutual understanding between the young people of
Muslim Mindanao and the youth from the Rotaract commu-
nity. By opening channels of communication, participants may
find that what we have in common is greater than what sepa-
rates us. This project also supports the theme for the Rotary
Year 2012-2013; Peace Through Service.

A glimpse from yesterday
Starting has never been that easy, and it has been a big day to day challenge in order to
have a Rotaract Club chartered.
July 24, 2011, a date where a new Rotaract Club was born in Rotaract District 3810 Philip-pines. An organization in Noveleta, Cavite named Rotaract Club of Rosario-Magdiwang which was helped and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Rosario-Magdiwang.

Event: Assembly Keynote Speaker: Vincent Roman
This is a picture of our speaker in the
assembly sharing his rich experience with regard to leadership and commitment in Rotaract through service. Included in the picture is Ma’am Rosario Cabusao, the Rota-ract Education Unit adviser.
A group of young individuals gathered together to form a union of students and non-professionals which aims to help their commu-nity and club who sponsored them. They may have different reasons or ways how they have become interested to be in the organization but the passion to serve and enjoy may be a major impact that have made them be-come members of the club. They have gone through so many trials as they travel along the way of being a Rotaractor, but that’s the
way it always goes. Life is like a wheel, always turning, always evolving. Sometimes you fall down, sometimes you deflate, but you always manage to keep going, supporting others, and staying strong. Some journeys are longer than others. Some are bumpier than others. But the load of life is a lot easier to bear with a friends helping out. An organization may go through so many ac-tivities, which its result is unknown, it may have a positive result but when things come from worse to worst we must think that ―Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever‖. Trials are not there to make us suffer but to make us stronger. There are many obstacles that you
may encounter but we could also think that ―Experience is what you got when you did not get what you really wanted‖. A certain learning which leads us to better success in life or events that will be made in the upcoming years. Thinking of these experi-ences that the organizations have gone through just lets everyone take ―A Glimpse of Yesterday‖ of the Rotaract Club of Rosario-Magdiwang.
