Our Cheer Baskets collection continues. For the month of June please bring in Peanut Butter and Jelly (please no glass jars). Please check expiration dates and be sure they have a mid 2017/early 2018 date. The goal is for our church to collect enough in ten months for 50 baskets. We will need 50 jars of each to continue our journey to this goal. We are still working on meeting our canned food goal of 400 cans. Please continue to donate. THANKS!! There will be collections boxes in the Connector building and the Sanctuary entrance.
Announcements Marriage on the Rock Sunday School class meets in the Fellowship Hall. Anyone who wants to learn biblical principles for marriage is welcome. If you are already in a Sunday School class, you’ll just transition back to your class at the end of these sessions. Questions, call Mark Beck at 434-841-0538 or email [email protected]

The Lynchburg Baptist Association is collecting items that will be sent with the Wise Missions Team for that area’s “Grab N Go Ministry.” This is a year round ministry to help the Department of Social Services Adult Protection Services. Non-perishable food items and other items help bridge the gap at the end of the month, when supplies run low. We hope that all our LBA Churches will be a part of this effort, by helping collect the following items: Crackers, Peanut Butter, Vienna sausage, Beanie Weenies, Pork N beans, Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Pudding Cups, Jell-O, Granola Bars, Pop Tarts, Powdered Milk, Oatmeal/Cereal, Soups/Chili/Beef Stew, Canned Meats, Mac N Cheese, (with cheese packet), Canned Pasta, Ramen Noodles, Spaghetti Noodles/Sauce, Oil, Pancake Mix/Syrup, Rice, Ensure, Dried Fruit, Instant Potatoes, Coffee/Juice/Soda, any other non-perishable item. Lotions, Soap/Body Wash, Shampoo, Deodorant, Shaving Cream, Razors, Toothbrush/Paste, Denture Cleaner/Paste, Brush/Comb, Socks, Wash Clothes, Towels, Dish Towels, Pot Holders, Gloves, Scarves, Knit Hats, Puzzle Books, Ink Pens, Notepads, Toilet Paper, Dish Liquid, Laundry Detergent, Trash Bags, Throws/Fleece Blankets, Adult Pull Up Diapers. Boxes are located in both foyers, marked Lynchburg Baptist Association – Wise, VA Mission Trip. Thank you for your support!
Pastor’s Corner Summer is here! We have so many exciting activities and ministries going on. Please keep a copy of this newsletter handy so you can keep up with all the great opportunities that summer brings. Also our ongoing worship and Sunday School can continue to make your summer a time of growth and strength in your faith journey. I will be away on vacation twice and so you will get to hear Cadence Tyler and Mark Beck preach. The youth will also be leading a worship service this summer. Our Vacation Bible School, camps and trips, will all make this an exciting time. -Office Changes. We have hired a new secretary and by the time you read this she is at work. We appreciate our temp Theresa Russell for filling in during this time. I also appreciate Bonnie Alldredge for going above and beyond to keep things going well. Our new secretary is Chelsea Thomas and we welcome her to our office at RMBC. -River Baptism. We have two to present at the James River. The date is July 24 at 4:00 at Greif (same as last year). We will have worship down by the river and a picnic. If you are interested in baptism, please contact me. -Sanctuary Renovation Conversation. We have had our second town hall meeting and in this newsletter you will find an important card. The card is an anonymous pledge interest. We have NOT voted to renovate the sanctuary. This card is to determine what financial support/interest is there before an official motion is made. The Sanctuary Committee, along with Deacons and Stewardship, encourage you to fill out this card and drop in the offering plate. It is simply a survey to determine what each of us might be willing to commit to give to a renovation should the church determine this is God’s direction for our church. God is at work at RMBC! Blessings, Derik

Notes From Susie The music we sing in church—often called hymns are usually based on scripture in poetic form. We can get distracted by the instruments, or by the rhythm, or even the melody and forget the words sometimes. That’s why you will see the words projected on the screen. So everyone—even the musically challenged can appreciate the poetry of the hymn. Here’s one of my favorite “poems,” How Can I Keep from Singing? By Robert Lowry written in 1869. The phrases turn a little but the message is clear...I must sing! “My life flows on in endless song; above earth’s lamentation, I hear the sweet, though far off hymn that hails the new creation. Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear the music ringing It finds an echo in my soul– how can I keep from singing?”
Ephesians 5:19—Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
On June 26th, nine youth and three chaperones will be going to Averett University in Danville for Impact Mission Camp! They will be working with youth from across the state to serve the people of Danville. Thank you for your support of the youth, and please be in prayer for this trip!
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I am so grateful for each of you. You have made my recovery time so much easier. Every prayer, every call, every card, every gift and all the food have been received with much gratitude and pleasure. Thank you for your expression of concern and care for me and my family. You are certainly a warm, loving church family.
Marie Milton Dear Dr. Hamby and RMBC Family, I am thankful to have finished the 6 months of Chemotherapy. Your prayers and cards have been such an encouragement and blessing. Thank You.
In Christ,
Paula Wilson (Linea’s mother)
Thank You!
