Google Places Is Now Google+ Local! What This Means For You & How It Affects Your

Customers Finding Your Business!

Google has gone and changed again! Google Places is now Google+ Local. For years, Google Places allowed business owners to create locations within Google Maps with general business information, making it easier for customers to find them with a minimum amount of work. The new Google+ Local Pages will give businesses a better opportunity to be ranked in the search results, as well as being able to pull testimonials to drive internal Google+ recommendations and future business. People find your business by looking on the internet. And the number 1 way new customers find you on the internet is by using Google Search Engine to find businesses in your category in your local area. This is called local internet searches. The yellow pages are dead, or dying a slow death. Your customers are using their computers to get the information they need to find local businesses.

With Google's new changes, you will need to do more than simply sign up for a Google Places For Business listing. There are steps you will need to take in order to maximize the benefits of the new Google+ Local for your website and keep on top of the search rankings for your area.

When you search for your business on Google, now, on the right of the search results page, it will show you your business, along with pictures, (if you are a restaurant) your Zagat 30-point rating, and your Google

Reviews. (Google bought Zagat) If you click on the Google Reviews, it will bring you to your Google+ Local Page. Here is where your customers will find your location, are able to write a review, and look at your photos. The market place is constantly changing and Google changes faster than anyone. If you’d like an expert to keep up with it all for you, and would like your Google+ Page completed and fully optimized and Done For You check the appropriate box on the updates form. The Done For You Internet Marketing Systems team will get back to you with the many ways they can help.

The History of the Flag Little or no documentation from

the Continental Congress explains

the design or origins of the US

flag. There have been various

claims as to the origin or

inspiration; many of the stories are

possible, but none proven.

The most popular story of

Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross

sewing the first such flag seems to

be unlikely. Betsy Griscom Ross

was an American flag maker and

reputed maker of the first United

States flag, was born in

Philadelphia. After her husband's

death in 1776, she managed his

upholstery business. In the same

year, according to the legend, a

committee led by the

Revolutionary patriot George

Washington, called on Betsy Ross

and requested her to design and

make a national flag. In 1870 a

grandson of Betsy Ross made

public the family story of this visit,

and it subsequently received wide

circulation. Independent

researchers failed to establish

documentary proof of the story,

however, and historians generally

doubt its authenticity. Although it

is known that Betsy Ross made

flags for the government during the

American Revolution, no

conclusive evidence exists that she

made the national emblem adopted

by the Continental Congress on

June 17, 1777. (Funk and

Wagnall’s Encyclopedia)

"I am apt to believe that this day

will be celebrated by

succeeding generations as the

great anniversary festival. It

ought to be commemorated as

the day of deliverance, by

solemn acts of devotion to God

Almighty. It ought to be

solemnized with pomp and

parade, with shows, games,

sports, guns, bells, bonfires,

and illuminations, from one end

of this continent to the other,

from this time forward

forevermore." When the Declaration of

Independence was declared,

John Adams wrote this historic

letter to his wife

FREE Smartphone App **Upgraded Functionality**

Get More People Signed Up As Cardholders

The Royalty Rewards® Smartphone App has gotten better!! Now, not only can you scan or enter your members’ card number right from their phone, the New & Improved App will show your member, the date of their last visit, how much they spent, and how many

points they have! It will also tell them how many points they need before they earn their next award! To download this App, go to your Apple App Store or Android Marketplace, and search for ‘Royalty Rewards’.

At the Summit in Chicago, Rory offered $50 for the best new idea for signing up new cardholders to your program. Several amazing ideas were put forth on how to get more customers signing up in your location. Have a contest that ONLY members can participate in. Advertise it

around your store. One merchant gave away a brand new bike. He hosted a big “Finalist Party” and invited all the finalists! This was held at a slow time, and you had to be present to win. This changed a usually quiet night into a very busy night!

Advertise Daily Specials, Offers or Gifts that are only available to members

One Merchant had prize incentives for staff as opposed to cash incentives. She finds enticing items on sale while out shopping and stores them up to give away as incentives to staff who have the most signups in a specified amount of time. She’s used luggage, sportswear, electronics.

Display signs in your store saying “If we don’t ask for your card, you get 50 Bonus Points!”

Put an Enrolment Form right inside your menus, price list, magazines in the waiting room, etc.

Marcus & Jamie Guiliano from Aroma Thyme Bistro won $50 for the best idea: Have your regular pricing on your menu, and then right beside that, put “Members Only” pricing. This guarantees signups, because everyone will ask how to get the Members Only Pricing!!

Coaches Corner

Q: How can I get more out of the Royalty Rewards® Program?

A: The best way to find out what you are missing, or what needs to be changed to maximize the program for you is by doing an account review with one of our Coaches. If we haven’t called you, call us to schedule a Free Account Review so that we can make sure that you are using the program to it’s full potential, and that you’re getting the best bang for your buck! We can tweak your offers, look at reports, and show you what you may be missing! Check the box on the upgrade form and we’ll schedule your FREE Account Review!

NEW functionality allows you to create “Interest Groups”. And once your members are assigned to these groups, you can choose to exclude these groups from any campaigns or you can you also include them in a seasonal campaign. For example, you could create interest groups such as Seasonal Members, Golfers, Church Members, Teenagers, Seniors, Military, European Car Owners, or Merchandise Preferences—it’s completely variable by merchant. To add groups, first create your groups by clicking the green Interest Groups button in your Merchant Service Area (Merchant / Merchant Service). Once you have created groups you will have a drop down list available when you go to Member Add and you can choose the group you want to use for that member. If you want to add groups to an already existing member you can go to their record and at the bottom you will find a clickable link Additional Interests and Clubs where selections can be added.

Taking this one step further, we have created the ability for you to record who is coming to your business during set time periods. You can now group you members into Time Based Purchase Pattern categories. For example, you can create a “Breakfast” group and see who of your members come in between 8am and 10am, or an “Rush Hour” group, to see who comes in 5pm-7pm. When we set up your time based groups we can analyse your past transactions to begin grouping members, and then future transactions will also fall into the established categories. This is an advance process to set up, please check the box on the enclosed updates form and we will contact you to help set it up for you.

Highlight’s of Rory’s presentations from the Chicago 2012

Summit are on your Concierge Page under

“Training Guides”.
