• The Housing Assistance Council, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, created a searchable database that combines many disparate data sources into one easily accessible database.
• The Rural Housing Data Portal is a web resource that provides data on social, economic, and housing conditions.
• The Data Portal is specifically geared toward the data needs of rural housing
practitioners and communities.

• Federal and government developed data is the foundation of the Rural Housing Data Portal.
• Government agencies collect and post a wealth of demographic and economic data.
• Yet much of this data is in disparate locations and often not user friendly.

• However, data in the Portal are primarily categorized by a composite measure of HAC designated “Rural” and “Urban Counties.”
