ORDER OF BUSINESS Treasurer’s Report, Rick Rosenthal Secretary’s Report, Carolyn Anderson Sally Sabo, who has been president for the last three years, will leave the Board of the Leonard Helman Bridge Center. Also leaving are Patty Stevens and Chuck Case. They both have given valuable service to the Board and the Center, for which we are very grateful. SLATE OF PROPOSED NEW MEMBERS: Ann Barker, an attorney specializing in environmental law, Bryon Kohr, a former CPA and member of other 501c3 boards, Rhonda White, a retired college teacher of chemistry and physics. Such nominees must consent to the nomination at the meeting. Sally Sabo, Outgoing President

Director's Notebook

Mistaken Call: If a player mis-bids, his/her partner has no responsibility to correct partner's call when asked. Players should never offer explanations phrased as “I think it means…” or “I’m taking it as…” If you cannot remember the partnership agreement, say just that. The opponents may wish to call the director. If you cannot remember discussing an agreement in this bidding sequence simply say “It’s undiscussed.” In this situation you are using your best bridge judgment to proceed and the opponents must do the same.

May 2019

Tournament Basics

A few things to remember before going to the Sectional:

Discuss your Convention Card with your partner. You each will have a copy of that card.

Wear a name tag if you have one; our Unit is hosting and we want to be friendly and helpful to our visitors.

When arriving at a new table introduce yourselves: I say, “I’m Kathy and this is my partner Jo. We are playing Standard American. And you?”

Plan to arrive at least 1/2 hour before game time. You need to park, register and pay at the Director’s table, find your table, locate coffee and bathrooms etc.

Have fun!

*Intermediate/Newcomers (I/N) players is generally defined by ACBL as players with less than 500 masterpoints and includes a spectrum of playing skills from novice to intermediate/advanced
