Important NOTE: We look forward to seeing you at the Sectional! Unfortunately, we are
“competing” for parking spaces with a swim meet, which begins before our play does. We are advised by the Chavez Center that while the swim meet does not start until 9:00, participants begin arriving (and parking) about 8:00. The Center has arranged for 2 “utility” vehicles to be available to shuttle those who need assistance from the overflow parking area to the building. The shuttles will operate from 8:15 - 9:15am on Saturday and 8:45 – 9:45 am on Sunday.

Director's Notebook
Mistaken Call: If a player mis-bids, his/her partner has no responsibility to correct partner's call when asked. Players should never offer explanations phrased as “I think it means…” or “I’m taking it as…” If you cannot remember the partnership agreement, say just that. The opponents may wish to call the director. If you cannot remember discussing an agreement in this bidding sequence simply say “It’s undiscussed.” In this situation you are using your best bridge judgment to proceed and the opponents must do the same.

May 2019
Tournament Basics
A few things to remember before going to the Sectional:
Discuss your Convention Card with your partner. You each will have a copy of that card.
Wear a name tag if you have one; our Unit is hosting and we want to be friendly and helpful to our visitors.
When arriving at a new table introduce yourselves: I say, “I’m Kathy and this is my partner Jo. We are playing Standard American. And you?”
Plan to arrive at least 1/2 hour before game time. You need to park, register and pay at the Director’s table, find your table, locate coffee and bathrooms etc.
Have fun!
*Intermediate/Newcomers (I/N) players is generally defined by ACBL as players with less than 500 masterpoints and includes a spectrum of playing skills from novice to intermediate/advanced
