HIV Capacity Building Partners’ SummiAdvocacy for Increased Training to Prevent HIV Infection in Children The first HIV Capacity Building Partners’ Summit held in March 2011 in Nairobi, and attended by more than 250 delegates from 25 countries, marked the beginning of a new thinking about how partners can work together to ensure that capacity building delivers result The Summit offered an opportunity for capacity building experts, policy-makers and the HIV-affected community to review and refine evidence-based, sustainable capacity building interventions that are country-owned and geared towards attaining the HIV and health targets

Paediatric Treatment Sites in Relation to Overall sites(NASCOP)

As per NASCOP records 5056 have been trained to date. Training is facilitated by support from USAID, EU and CDC.As at end of dec 2010, there were 35,551 paeds on ART in Kenya

Sadly 20,000 children are infected each year ‘Children are not just small adults they require special care, treatment, and drug formulations and this requires that healthcare workers receive specific education, training, and on-going support.’
