Psalm 121 Said by all

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills;* from where is my help to come? 2 My help comes from the Lord,* the maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved* and he who watches over you will not fall asleep. 4 Behold, he who keeps watch over Israel* shall neither slumber nor sleep; 5 The Lord himself watches over you;* the Lord is your shade at your right hand, 6 So that the sun shall not strike you by day* nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;* it is he who shall keep you safe. 8 The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in,* from this time forth for evermore. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,* and to the Holy Ghost: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,* world without end. Amen.

The Second Lesson: Romans 4:1-5, 13-17 What then are we to say was gained by Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was reck-oned to him as righteousness." Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a gift but as something due. But to one who without works trusts him who justifies the ungodly, such faith is reckoned as righteousness. For the promise that he would inher-it the world did not come to Abraham or to his descendants through the law but through the righteousness of faith. If it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void. For the law brings wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there violation. For this reason it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaran-teed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law

but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (for he is the father of all of us, as it is written, "I have made you the father of many nations") -- in the presence of the God in whom he be-lieved, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

Celebrant The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.

People Glory be to thee, O Lord.

There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews. He came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do apart from the presence of God." Jesus answered him, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the king-dom of God without being born from above." Nicodemus said to him, "How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the king-dom of God without being born of water and Spirit. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be astonished that I said to you, 'You must be born from above.' The wind blows where it chooses, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicode-mus said to him, "How can these things be?" Jesus answered him, "Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? "Very truly, I tell you, we speak of what we know and testify to what we have seen; yet you do not receive our tes-timony. If I have told you about earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. "For God so

Anthem at the Offering - A Lenten Love Song Helen Kemp Now Jesus went into the garden, the Garden of Gethsemane. He went there sad and very weary to be alone to pray. “Dear God, I am so sorrowful, is there no other way? Dear God, if it is possible, let this cup pass away.” Now Jesus went into the garden, the Garden of Gethsemane. The olive tree bent over him, and heard him sadly pray: “Dear God, your Son is sorrowful, but knows your way is best. Let love take hold of me! Help me to be bold and free to do your will and rest. Kathleen A. Malloy Kathy Malloy has been strongly and actively com-mitted to St. Peter’s from her initial arrival back in 1995. Raised Roman Catholic, attending Catholic school and a regular church-goer long into her adult years; Kathy sought out a church that would better meet her needs for more compassion, open arms for everyone, a friendly atmosphere and a warm congregation. She found it all at St. Peter’s By the Sea. Kathy volunteered in our Outreach Program upon her arrival, and has been the core person re-sponsible for the collection and distribution of gifts from our Angel Tree to poor and needy families,

some dealing with medical crises and others residing in homeless shelters resulting from domestic violence. She has also enhanced distribution of Outreach by providing Easter Baskets to needy children and their families, special gifts for Mother’s Day for the homeless, and she has assisted in distributing boxes of food for Thanksgiving. Kathy has served St. Peter’s altar as a LEM, reads as a Lector, as well as having served as a convention delegate. She has written Annual Reports for St. Peter’s and has spoken many times from our lectern, reporting on updates in the parish as well as important church issues. Kathy is a 35-year Suffolk County retiree who began a second career with her municipal union as its Labor Specialist and chief researcher in 2009. Returning to school later in life, Kathy received her Master’s Degree in Labor & Public Policy in 2013. She spent the summer of 2013 working part-time in NYC for a non-profit humanitarian organization, and fully retired from the union in 2015. Kathy has spent the last four years actively serving St. Peter’s as Clerk of the Vestry. An Islip Terrace homeowner for 43 years, Kathy has been married to husband Dennis for 35 years and has four adult children and seven grandchildren. Kathy hopes to carry on her personal mission to continue serving the parishioners of St. Peter’s as Junior Warden on its Vestry. (Kathy has also volunteered to continue taking care of all Vestry meeting notes, writing, transcribing and typing up minutes – to best serve the Vestry and St. Peter’s parishioners in effective communication – for honesty and true transparency!)

Carl Siciliano I have been attending St. Peter’s by the Sea for over ten years, Prior to that I at-tended St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton (where I was married and received as an Episcopalian by The Right Reverend Rodney Michel) and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lin-

denhurst. I have been an Episcopalian for over ten years having been raised as a Roman Catholic. I have found a spiritual home at St. Pe-ter’s and as an Episcopalian. Growing up as a Roman Catholic has given me a very different view of my spirituality as an Episcopalian. I finally realized that I can grow spiritually and enjoy going to services without the guilt Roman Catholics tend to have. Since joining St. Peter’s, my family attends services regularly and I am serving on my second term as a Member of the Vestry. I am the Scouting Ministries Coordinator and as such I am the Committee Chairperson for Boy Scout Troop 43 and Committee Member of Cub Pack 153 which are chartered by St. Peter’s. As Scouting Ministries Co-ordinator, I interact with the Bishop, Senior Warden and the Vestry regularly. The Scouting Ministries is the largest Youth Ministry estab-lished by St. Peter’s with over 130 boys. The Scouting Ministries serves the St. Peter’s Parish, with many Eagle Scout Projects completed for its benefit: the St. Peter’s sign with a flower box, split rail fence, Center for the Arts music room renovation, Prayer Circle by the farm and completes many community projects locally, but most importantly: we teach Scouts to be Reverent. As a member of the Vestry, I spend many hours in St. Peter’s helping with many of the grounds and maintenance projects needed. I was present for many days when St. Peter’s flooded in August of 2014, helping coordinate the pumping of water and sandbagging. Most re-cently, Carl William and I helped with daily routine maintenance, when the Senior Warden was recovering from surgery. In my professional life, I am an Assistant Vice President for W. R. Berkley Insurance Company a Commercial Insurance Company specializing in Umbrella and Excess coverage’s. I have received a Mas-ter of Arts in Government & Politics specializing in International Rela-tions and Comparative Politics in January 1998 and Bachelor of Sci-ence in Paralegal Studies in May 1995, both from St. John’s University

located in Jamaica, New York. In my personal life, I am married to Heidi Rusch Siciliano who has attended St. Peter’s since she was a small child and is an active member of the ECW. We live locally in Brightwaters a two minute drive to St. Peter’s. My son, Carl William will be graduating with Hon-ors from Bay Shore High School this June; he will be attending College locally; studying to be a Secondary School History Teacher. He has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 43 and regularly Acolytes. I am delighted that my family wants to attend church every Sunday and I gladly volunteer to make this place spiritually nourishing for them. Many of you may also know my in-laws Nancy and Bill Rusch, as they are long standing members of St. Peter’s and have filled various leader-ship positions in the Parish over the past 40 years. Why vote for me to be the Junior Warden? I firmly believe that the quality of the experience of parish life is directly related to the effort and involvement that one puts into it. St. Peter’s financial strug-gle can be overcome with the help and input of the Parish and Com-munity. I recently served on the Long Term Planning Committee and believe we need to meet again to discuss options to help our financially struggling Parish. I also believe a Warden should live locally in the community and should not be absent from the Parish for extended periods of time. It should be no surprise that I am running for the po-sition of Junior Warden and I ask for your vote.
