Diocesan Announcement Diocesan Announcement
Announcement of the Appointment of Father Ramon Bejarano as
Auxiliary Bishop of San Diego Bishop McElroy is pleased to announce the appointment of Fr. Ramon Bejarano as
the new Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of San Diego. Bishop-Elect Bejarano is to be
consecrated on April 21st. Fr. Ramon comes highly regarded by the bishops he has
served and stress that he is a pastor first and foremost. He will be consecrated on
April 21st at the Church of the Resurrection.
Bishop-Elect Bejarano, 50, was born to José and Maria Elena on July 17, 1969 in
Seagraves, Texas. Thereafter the family moved back to Aldama, Chihuahua, Mexico
and lived there for most of his early life. At the age of 18 he and his family moved to
Tracy, California, where he worked the farming fields in the San Joaquin Valley to
help support his family. Several years later he entered the seminary for the Diocese of
Stockton to fulfill his long held desire to become a priest. He studied Philosophy at
the Archdiocesan Seminary of Tijuana and completed his Theological Studies at
Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. He was ordained to the priesthood by the
Most Rev. Donald Montrose on August 15, 1998 for Diocese of Stockton.
Following his ordination, Bishop-Elect Berajano served as a parochial vicar in two
separate parishes in Stockton and Turlock, California. He later became the founding
pastor of Holy Family Parish in Modesto, California, in 2005. From this location he
was then assigned the pastor of St. Stanislaus Church, Modesto, and Cathedral of the
Annunciation, Stockton. Among his service as pastor he has served as Chaplain to
the Migrant Ministry in the Stockton diocese and Spiritual Director for the Spanish
Catholic Radio for the area. He also held various
leadership positions for the Diocese of Stockton that
included as Member of the Presbyteral Council, the
Diaconate Board, Preparatory Commission for the
2005 Diocesan Synod and the College of Consultors
“I am humbled and honored by my appointment as
auxiliary bishop of San Diego,” said Bishop-Elect
Bejarano. “It is a great sadness for me to leave the
people and parishes whom I have served for the
past twenty one years. But I am joyful that I will be
ministering in the Diocese of San Diego and serving
this diverse and vibrant local church.”
Baptism Baptisms are a communal Sacrament held on the 4th Sunday of each month after the 11:00am Mass. Deacon John Fanelle performs all of the baptisms. Parents are required to be formally registered as parishioners and be participating members of our community for three months. Attending Mass does not make you registered. You must have completed the registration form. If this is the first child, both parents are required to attend the Baptismal Class. Baptismal classes are held on the first Sunday of each month. Godparents are encouraged to attend the baptismal class, either at our parish or their own parish. For more information, or to schedule a Baptism and/or register for the Baptismal Class, please visit https://sttheresecarmel.org/baptism/.
Marriage
All couples wishing to be married at St. Thérèse of Carmel must be formally registered, active, and participating members of our parish community for one year before setting a date. Couples are asked to allow six to nine months to complete the marriage preparation program. Please contact the parish office at (858) 481-3232 or email [email protected] to make arrangements.
RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults RCIA is the process by which the unbaptized are received into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist. Unbaptized adults seeking a deeper union with Jesus Christ, through initiation into the Catholic Faith, are cordially invited to consider participation in the RCIA which will begin in the fall. RCIA is also appropriate for Christians from other denominations who seek initiation into the Catholic tradition and for Baptized Catholics who need to finish their sacraments of initiation. Please contact Karen Klause (858) 354-7441 for more information.
