There is a life after the
end…the end of the college

This year I…
• 1000 of top students from all
over Russia were invited to take
part.
• For a whole week we created
and discussed projects on how
to build a better future for the
average Russian citizen.
• Our “Connections” team
developed a highly efficient
system of using roadways for
energy transmission.
• “Lomonosov’s” Olympiad (by Moscow State University)
prizewinner in Mathematics • Moscow Inter-college Olympiad prizewinner in Mathematics
Moscow Traditional
Linguistics Olympiad prizewinner
All-Russian Olympiad by Higher School
of Economics:
• Winner in Russian Language
• Prize winner in Economics
• Prize winner in Mathematics
My participation in national forum "Intellectual Leaders of Russia’s Future" made
me reflect on my qualities as a leader: on both how well I work with a team and how
much positive influence I can project in a group setting. My attitude while put in a
leadership position is one of actively trying to form the atmosphere – an
atmosphere of friendly support and healthy criticism. While examining my style I
realize that these same qualities that lead to my effective leadership are qualities
that are very much connected to my life philosophy.
I believe that one of the most effective ways to motivate a person to take action is
to show him/her a personal example. Following this idea, I try to be supportive to
the people around. It is challenging to find the right way to help an individual in
each particular situation; however I don’t consider this difficulty a reason for giving
up. Sometimes I give a piece of advice, or lend a shoulder to cry on; in other
situations a more straightforward speech helps – not long ago I was thanked by my
friend for “not being too compassionate”.
By supporting others I can help not only them, but also myself and the community
in whole; that’s what I value in my character and what determines my lifestyle. I am
convinced that concern for others is among the fundamentals of healthy relations
and a great foundation for leadership. I am doing my best to practice this approach
to life.
Community Service:
Enjoyed helping our
school teachers with
giving tests to the 7-th
grade applicants.
Helped with both
organization of the
process and grading the assignments.
Acquired an unusual
skill:
Learned how to cook
delicious Russian-style
pancakes. Hope my
roommate at UPenn is
going to like them!
Didn’t leave my interest in sport and nature:
Got prepared to a new rafting trip. We’re setting out in
few days. Hope, I will enjoy it as usual or even more!
