The best decision:Cheap is not the same as cost-effective! Many towelling paperslure you in with low prices. These prices are usually only possiblethrough smaller sheet dimensions, lower grammage or lacking cellulose. The result: users consume more to achieve the samecleaning and drying performance! Even tough guys have a soft side to them! When selecting your sanitary papers, you should also pay attention to the softness.Regular washing and drying of hands (e.g. in the health sector, in the gastronomy and maintenance sector) taxes the skin andmakes it crack. Guaranteed best hygiene and flawless handling in ourdispenser systems

The right storage: Paper is a natural product; that is why it very easily absorbs humidity, and this can change the characteristics of the paper. For the highest possible suction power, the best hygiene and flawless handling in the dispenser systems, it is best to storethe sanitary paper in good packaging (e.g. in a carton, wrappedin foil etc.) and away from humidity or major heat sources.

The right choice: Only use sanitary papers that are specially suited for use inWEPA dispenser systems and are marked accordingly. The paper and dispensers have been directly designed for each other. Other paper types do not offer reliable results and can lead to problemsin hygiene and failures or soiling in the dispenser systems.

PrinciplesAlong with economic success, quality and work safety, environmentalprotection is an equally important company objective.

Determination and evaluationAn annual reassessment of all direct and indirect aspects that have an impact on the environment is carried out. The direct environmental aspects include the use of raw materials and paper additives, the utilisation of energy and water as well as emissions in water and air and the avoidance and elimination of waste and noise. The indirect environmentalaspects include collaboration with contractual partners and production-related effects.


Quality and environment

Environmental management systemThe DIN EN ISO 14001 and EMAS environmental management system is an integral component of our management system. The DIN EN ISO 9001 quality management as well as the global standards for raw material procurement from sustainable forest management, FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of ForestCertification) are also fulfilled. In addition, numerous WEPA products are certified with the EU Ecolabel and the BlueAngel of the German Federal Environmental Agency.

Use of resourcesDuring the production process, the recovered paper runsthrough several sorting and cleaning stages. The desired bright-ness is achieved using oxygen bleaching with hydrogen peroxideand, if required, additionally with sodium dithionite. For our WEPA prestige fresh fibre quality, we use FSC-celluloseexclusively.

Fresh water / waste waterFor the production of paper, corresponding quantities of waterare naturally required. The preparation of surface water or ourown wells covers this demand. Potable water is not used asa matter of principle, and any resulting waste water is cleanedin communal purification plants.

EnergyElectricity and steam are an important environmental aspectand cost factor for paper production. To improve environmentalawareness and individual responsibility, we have introduced the capture of production data with “Energieportal MessDas”,to record water consumption, waste water generation andchemical additives.

WasteThe main volume of our waste is incurred in the form of papersludge during the preparation of the recovered paper used inthe production process. Paper sludge is, however, recycledmaterially and used thermally, for example, in our own powerplant in Marsberg Giershagen.

Hazardous materialsAt WEPA, only small quantities of hazardous materials are generated. To minimise the risk potential caused by these hazardous materials, an external hazardous materials officerwas commissioned. The waste disposal is carried out by reputable waste disposal companies.

Noxious pollutant emissions and odoursAir emissions are caused mainly by the combustion of natural gas and are thus directly tied to paper production. The generation of odours, in particular through recovered paper as a raw material, is prevented through storage in a closed hall. Regular cleaning of the production facilitiesas well as the pipes and channels comprise an additional component of our environmental precautions.

NoiseIn recent years, WEPA has implemented extensive noise reduction measures, such as silencers in the boiler chimneys, the installation of noise-reducing materials and fins in the production premises as well as the installation of new venti-lation systems for closed working areas.

Packaging / logisticsWe conserve the environment, and in the packaging of our products we make sure to use recyclable packaging material. Many articles are manufactured in their dimensions so that the subsequent transport as well as storage economyis optimally possible.
