CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL

“When should my child move up a class?”

The new “church program year” begins with Promotion Sunday each August. Please wait until Promotion Sunday to move your child

into a new Sunday School class, choir, nursery, JAM, VBS group, etc.

We follow the same “September 1st” guideline as our Preschool: the age (or grade) your

child is on September 1st will determine which class they will be in for that church year

(August – July).

Following this policy helps our Children’s Ministry leaders get to know your child

throughout the year. We can also better plan our lessons and activities since we will have a

consistent class roster rather than having children move from one class to the next at random times throughout the entire year.

If you have any questions about your child’s placement, please contact Ashley Johnson,

Children’s Minister ([email protected]).

“FLAT” WESLEY BROTHERS

We are thrilled to welcome the "Flat" Wesley Brothers to Newnan First Methodist. This is a nationwide project through the General Board of Discipleship to help our United Methodist

children learn more about our Methodist heritage and live the "Methodist Way". Our

children, along with the help of Flat John Wesley and Flat Charles Wesley, will be

exploring new ways to offer compassion, witness for justice, practice devotion and

participate in worship.

The "Flat Wesleys" idea is modeled after the children's book from the 1960's "Flat

Stanley". Stanley is accidentally "flattened" but soon learns that there are advantages to being flat including traveling in an envelope through

the mail to visit people.

The Flat Wesley Brothers came to Newnan from Oklahoma and will visit for two weeks before continuing their journey to another United Methodist church in Ohio. You can

follow along their adventure by joining their Facebook page:

(search: Flat John Wesley and Flat Charles Wesley) or #FollowTheWesleys.

meet the construction age requirement? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE!

All children (and interested adults) are invited to help as we prepare flower planters and

wreaths for our Habitat Faith Build house and the other houses on the block.

We will deliver the planters and wreaths prior to the Habitat House Blessing. More details

coming soon about the Blessing.

GOOD FRIDAY CROSS WALK

Don’t forget our upcoming Downtown Cross Walk on Good Friday (April 3rd). We will

gather at the church at 5:00 p.m. Our journey will take us throughout the downtown Newnan

area. Don’t worry if you aren’t able to help carry the cross…we need all the walkers we

can get to help us form a group. The walk will conclude with a service of Holy Communion at

Greenville Street Park @ 7pm. We hope you will join us!

KIDCHECK AND EASTER If you have not yet created a KidCheck account, please make one before Easter

Sunday to help us ensure that our Nursery operates as smoothly as possible.

Likewise, if you have family/friends coming to worship with us who will need the nursery,

please encourage them to as well.

Accounts are free and can be created at KidCheck.com. Please email Ashley with any

questions ([email protected])
