Page 2: The similarities in music magazines

Front cover - Both front covers have an famous music artist in the middle of the magazine as the main image, as both magazines are music magazines they need popular artist to be on the front cover. Both of the artists have full eye contact, and are looking straight at the camera. The photos are shot from head to the thigh

- Both magazines have a big mastheads at the top, the main images cover up bits of the masthead however you can still see it. - Includes a puff with

information in it about another band or artist

- The main cover line is the name of the celebrity that is featured on the front of the magazine, both in capital letters.

- The backgrounds of the magazines are plain colours (black, grey, white)

Looking at music magazine front covers I have found out that they have quite a lot of similarities, they both have a main image of a celebrity right in the middle, usually looking at the camera, they include coverlines about other celebrity's and the biggest coverline is usually the name or something about the celebrity who's the main image.

Contents page - Both Contents page’s have the name of the magazine in the top left side of the magazine.

- The name of the page ‘Contents’ is situated at the top of both magazines in bold capital letters.

- Both magazines have the same layout, the page is split into three sections. Down the left hand side is the main contents telling the reader what’s on what page, down the bottom is a section giving the reader a snippet of what the magazine has to offer inside, and the third section Is the middle/right hand of the magazine, both magazines have pictures of singers.

- The main part of the magazine (in the middle) features a picture or pictures of famous singers

- Both magazines have stuck to simple colour pallets that mach their front covers, using around four colours each.

- No patterned backgrounds, just simple colours

- Next to the pictures they have put the page number, this is so the reader can find the article or photo shoot that they are featured in.

- There are subtitles before the contents page’s

Double page spread

- The main part of the double page spread is the article itself, The article features questions in which the artist has answered, the singer would of talked about things such as: There life, tour, relationships, friends, family and upcoming events, all this information is what the reader wants to read, they want to get into there life and find out more about the singer.

- Both double page spreads include a picture of the subject, which would take up a large majority of the page. The picture could show the singer in action (on tour) or could be a simple photo shoot just to show the reader who they are talking about.

- Parts of the article will be enlarged showing important parts of the interview or just highlighting bits so the reader sees it first and gets drawn into the interview by it.

- Name of artist featured at the top of the magazine, letting the reader know who they are talking about.

- I have looked at quite a lot of double page spreads and they are all very similar to these two, all double page spreads will write about an interview that has been taken place a while ago, and include a picture of that artist that will always take up most of a page.
