Wheel and Axel
• One of the simple machines used in sixties playgrounds was the wheel and axel. It was used in such things the witch hat and merry go round.
Inclined plane/screw
• Slides in the sixties were made of metal, basic and inclined planes. Compared to the slides of today which can be molded into different shapes such as the screw.
Lever
• One example of a lever that has started to fade out from playgrounds today is the see saw. They are not used anymore today because kids were getting injured
Wedge
•One example of a wedge that was used back then and now is skateboard ramps. Its also considered a inclined plane.
Pulley
•Many playgrounds use a pulley in things such as the zipline. One example is the Bridgemill parks wire ziplines, that contain two pulleys in the handle
