    A LETTER FROM

Wow it’s HOT, and the activities at Saugahatchee are too!

The amenities at your Club are almost perfectly displayed this time of year! Whether it’s a round of golf, a dip in the pool, a match on the court, a Sunday Brunch with the family, a night of poolside music, a Taco Tuesday or your kids expanding their horizons at one of our golf & tennis camps, there’s A LOT to enjoy at Saugahatchee this Summer!

Our new WINNING WEDNESDAYS are expected to be a BIG HIT! We will draw a member name every Wednesday at 7:00pm. If you’re here, YOU WIN! The prize starts at $100 and increases $25 every week there’s not a winner. Come join the fun!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for our annual Member Party on August 20th! YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS IT! It was probably our best night of the year in 2015 and promises to repeat this year. It will coincide with the Heart of Dixie Invitational again this year. We will have the same three outstanding Chefs preparing food: Pyong Lee, Galen Hearty and Trey Dorsey. Plan to dance into the night with Bobby Moore & the Rhythm Aces. We look forward to sharing an outstanding evening with you!

Trey’s special Summer Menu has been unveiled. His Winter Menu was a huge hit and there are new light, fresh and delicious items on the Summer Menu. Come try it!

Don’t forget our Summer Membership Special – the DOUBLE REFERAL! You earn $300 and the joining member earns $300 when you refer a new member. They are both non-transferrable, so you cannot “gift” yours to the new member. YOU HAVE TO SPEND IT!!

The Club is having a solid year financially in 2016. We’ve experienced a net membership gain of +16. We had +7 in 2015, so that’s +23 in the last 18 months. Please stop by and meet Mary Isbell if you haven’t already. She’s our new Membership Marketing Director and has jumped in with both feet and has become a stellar part of the team!

After replacing the upstairs windows, which made an amazing improvement, we have $45,000 in Capital Funds. We save about $3,000 a month from Operations. Some fundraising efforts will be implemented soon. Some of you have already generously contributed. Please talk with me or your favorite Board Member if you are interested in contributing towards Capital Improvements and investing in the future of Saugahatchee.

The Silt Litigation is set for trial in October. There will probably be another stab at mediation before then.

Thank you for your continued support of Saugahatchee and have a great summer!

*Limit of 2 free kids per adult*

This brewery, Weihenstephan, is the oldest Brewery in the world. Over 1,000 years ago, the monks from a small town outside Munich started brewing beer with a few simple ingredients and some 500 years later – in 1516 – Germany’s Duke of Bavaria announced the “Reinheitsgebot” or purity law, a strict rule in which all beers were to be made from three simple ingredients – water, barley and hops (yeast was not used until many years later)

So in recognition of this law, Weihenstephan has brought out a commemorative beer this year to celebrate the 500 year old law. In this bottle, they tried to make a beer the same as you would have drunk it 500 years ago. This limited edition will not be around for long, so if you can find some, try it!

  • Summer is definitely here!! I hope everyone is enjoying the long days and are hopefully having the opportunity to play some late afternoon golf. Summer afternoons are so pleasant after a hot day.

Monday, June 13th Chris Hartwiger, with the USGA, visited Saugahatchee to basically do a follow up from his visit one year ago in June. He will be preparing a full report which will be distributed to all Members when received. In short, Mr. Hartwiger was very complimentary of all aspects of the course, especially the health of the greens. He did say that last winter was a hard winter for Mini-Verdi grass. There were questions asked that covered all areas of the course, by Green Committee Members and Board Members that were present and all these will be covered in his report.

Mr. Hartwiger also shared some ideas for the golf course, which will be talked about in his report that will be given serious consideration by the Board. The USGA is promoting, more than ever, that golf be fun for all ages and all handicap levels and they will offer ideas for us to consider.

I think when you have a chance to review Mr. Hartwigers report you will be very pleased with the great job that Arnold and his staff have done in the last year.

Now for a few housekeeping items! Please keep carts on the path at greens, sand your divots, fix your ball marks, rake bunkers and most of all please get out and PLAY GOLF – the course is in the best shape ever!!

    See you on the course!!
