Based on the John Lewis advert, The Journey
Once upon a Christmas time,
two children woke up with a plan –
they’d use the sparkling snow to build
a Christmas snowgirl and snowman.
The children worked hard all day long,
until their mother called them home.
The winter day grew colder still.
The snowpeople were left alone.
The snowman peeped at the snowgirl.
The snowgirl shyly smiled at him.
The snowman’s snowy heart beat fast.
His mouth curled up into a grin.
She had a parsnip for a nose,
and spiky bristles for her hair.
With pine-cone eyes and twigs for arms,
if she looked odd, he didn’t care.
The day grew dark. The sun went down.
Soon night fell and a chill wind blew.
The snowgirl shivered, cold at heart.
The snowman knew what he must do.
Then quietly, so quietly,
he crept away across the snow.
The snowgirl, still, beneath the moon,
was not awake to see him go.
