What is EWI?• Evening with Industry (EWI) is a dinner and
networking event that grants companies a unique way to connect with and recruit talented engineering students of Washington University.
• The event also provides students the opportunity to develop valuable company contacts and to learn about the careers available to them once they leave academia.
Connect with Students• The evening begins with a networking reception,
similar to a Career Fair, allowing students to approach company representatives to learn general career information.
• For dinner, students will sit at a company table of choice, where table discussion will highlight company work and possible career opportunities.
• Following dinner, an optional presentation allows companies to connect with more students, showcasing current projects, research areas, and job opportunities.
Schedule of Events• 5:30-6:30 p.m. Arrival and set-up
• 6:30-7:00 p.m. Networking Reception
• 7:00-8:00 p.m. Table discussions over dinner
• 8:00-8:30 p.m. Company presentations in breakout rooms

• Opportunity to expand and develop the presence of your company on our campus.
• Chance to recruit interested students early in the school year.– Students will register for specific company tables.
Thus all 8-9 students at your table have an expressed interest in learning more about your company and the careers available.
– Each company representative will be given a resume CD of all students in attendance at the event.

• Throughout the year the Society of Women Engineers strives to support women engineering students by organizing outreach, networking, mentoring and social activities, inspiring them to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders.
Our section at the 2006 National Conference
The MEMS Department• This undergraduate department offers degrees in Mechanical
and Civil Engineering, with focuses in Mechanical, Aerospace, and Structural Engineering. The curriculum is designed to give hands-on design experience and to provide a strong scientific foundation -- including the fluid and thermal sciences, dynamics and control, and structures and materials.
• As indicated in the pictures, current research projects inthe department aim to expand knowledge in:– Aerospace Technology– Sustainable Structures– Nano-structured Materials
The BME Department• Biomedical engineers play key roles in designing and
developing new instruments, deploying the emerging information infrastructure, and creating new biomaterials and medical devices.
• Founded in 1997, our biomedical engineering department benefits from an extensive and collegial relationship with our world-renowned medical school (ranked 4th in the nation).
• Under the BS-BME option, students can select from four specialty track options:– Bioelectrical Systems– Biomechanics– Biomolecular Systems– Biotechnology
The EEC Department• This newly created Energy, Environmental, and Chemical
department provides integrated and multidisciplinary programs of scientific education. Our mission is accomplished by:– A curriculum of fundamental education coupled with application in
an advanced focal area and strengthened by our breadth in other disciplinary areas.
– Participation in cutting-edge research with faculty and industrial partners.
– Access to state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation.• The vision is to establish Washington University in St. Louis
as a hub for environmental and energy research, education, innovation and action.
The ESE Department• The Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering was
formed in 2003 as a merger between Electrical Engineering and Systems Science and Mathematics.
• EE was the second-oldest electrical engineering department in the United States. Since its inception, it has made contributions to education and research in applied physics, electronics, communications, signal processing, and biomedical engineering.
• SSM was a unique department specializing in applied mathematics, systems, and control.
