Case Study Thales The TIPS24 service is ideal for companies and contractors who do not have the time or facilities to produce their own cable markers, but who require detailed information to be stored on their cables, quickly and effectively. Over 40 product variations can be delivered next day – standard, before 10am or noon – and Saturday delivery is also available. Thales’ Jim Murray says: “When we specified cable markers for the Channel Tunnel project, we wanted to use HellermannTyton’s TIPS cable identification system as we had heard good feedback about the product from colleagues. With TIPS markers, information is printed directly onto the labels using a thermal process to ensure a clear and durable solution – longevity is very important for rail applications where products need to be hard wearing.” HellermannTyton’s TIPTAG route markers are available in two widths (11mm and 15mm) and two lengths (65mm and 100mm) and are supplied with two free MILSPEC fixing ties. Available in white or yellow, the markers are manufactured using a high grade LFH material. Jim continues: “When I spoke to HellermannTyton, I told them what products I wanted and then emailed them a spreadsheet of the data I needed printing onto the labels. TIPS24 was able to provide the labels in different colours as per my requirements and print sequential numbers and codes. I paid by card over the phone and the labels were delivered to site the following day. If we’d had to print the labels ourselves, I have no doubt that it would have really set our project back. TIPS24 is a spot on service and I would definitely use it again.” HellermannTyton’s UK Product Manager John McGee says: “In today’s world there is an ever increasing need to get more varied and complex information onto cabling systems. TIPS24 enables customers to achieve this in a cost effective and time sensitive manner. Thales is just one of many satisfied customers who have discovered the benefits of our reliable service which delivers the right markers to the right place at the right time.” THE SOLUTION THE PROBLEM Electronics specialist Thales is heavily involved in building and upgrading work on the railways, working alongside Network Rail on a variety of projects. Site Manager, Jim Murray called upon HellermannTyton and its TIPS24 customised printing service to supply cable markers for the project. HellermannTyton’s TIPS24 service was established in 2006, for companies and contractors who do not have the time or facilities to produce their own customised cable markers The markers are printed using an innovative Thermal Imaging Printing System (TIPS) which ensures lasting cable identification, resistant to heat, dust, light and water Heat shrink sleeving is also available through the TIPS24 service Over 40 product variations can be delivered next day – standard, before 10am or noon – and Saturday delivery is also available IN BRIEF For detailed information on our full range of products and services you can reach us at: HellermannTyton Sharston Green Business Park, 1 Robeson Way Off Altrincham Road, Wythenshawe Manchester M22 4TY HOTLINE: 0161 945 4181 SALES: 0161 947 2200 FAX: 0161 947 [email protected] Visit our website ww.hellermanntyton.co.uk
