“Z” is the key to I.M. Injections Hurricane Nate devastated Puerto Rico where many IV solutions, medications, and medical equipment is manufactured. The shortage of IV fluids does not have a “quick-fix” for those institutions and facilities needing these items. One work solution has been to convert some medications normally given via IV Piggyback into IV Flushes or IM injections. This article reminds nurses of the rationale for a Z-track injection when giving IM medications. Title: “Z” is the Key to I.M. Injections Source: LPN 1(6):11-12, 2005 Nov/Dec Ovid Nursing Database

In September 2017, 12 Nurse Interns, along with other RNs and clinical staff, completed a 2-week orientation provided by Professional Development. This included a blended approach of classroom presentations, skills check-offs, and eLearning courses. Expectations of the Nurse Intern program are to provide mentorship and ongoing education that assist with closing the gap between school and clinical practice. The Interns are now in the clinical portion of their internship and working in their assigned departments with their RN preceptors. Assigned clinical departments include Ortho-Neuro, Cardiac, Medical and Surgical Telemetry, and ICU.
