St Georges Classic Car Tour 2016 For the 4th year Ashley Power sponsored the St George’s Day Classic Car Tour. Now into it’s 9th year the event was held on the 24th April in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance service and, this year, the childrens charity Lucy’s Day Out which aim to give special experiences to families living with children with serious illnesses.

This year’s event saw 70 cars ranging from General Manager Don Foss’s 1925 Sunbeam (See picture) all the way up to brand new Ferrari’s. The team put together a fantastic event starting with breakfast at Thruxton race track. The morning route ran through the Wiltshire countryside to the lunch stop at the Golden Swan Pub which, incidently, has the steepest thatched roof in all of Whiltshire (You learn something new every day. Here at Ashley Power we supply a wide range of British Standard imperial power transmission chain from 1/4 inch up to 2 inch pitch from stock in simplex, duplex and triplex variants. This along with standard, single crank and double crank connectors also on the shelf, means you can replace your damaged, worn or old chains in almost no time at all.

All of our simplex and duplex 1/2 - 1 inch pitch chains are supplied “easi break” i.e. copper headed rivets for ease of dismantling with a standard chain spliter (also available from stock).

Other pitch sizes and American Standard chains are also available on request and we can even supply riveted endless chain on a very short lead time.

In any application where a chain drive is going to be used, sprockets will be required in order for the chain to transmit the power.

At Ashley Power we can supply a full range of sprockets to suit all standard tooth pitches. We can supply them in steel and cast iron (for larger sprockets) as well as stainless steel for food or other clean environments. Sprockets can be supplied pilot bored, or to be fitted with a taperlock bush. They can also be supplied as plate-wheels where no hub is needed, or allowing you to use your own weld-on hub in order to fit a taperlock bush that is smaller or larger than is usual for that particular size sprocket.

As well as standard transmission chain and sprockets we are also able to supply a huge variety of conveyor chain. Often used in bottling plants, quarries, recycling plants and many other industries coveyor chain is relied upon for moving items from one place to another.

Conveyor chain can come in many different forms one option is to use transmission chain that is fitted with extended length pins, larger diameter rollers or modified side plates that can be used to attach scrapers, rubber pads, flat belting and other materials to your power transmission set up.

Moving away from standard chain that has been modified we are also able to supply a wide range of custom/specialised conveyor chain including side flexing, slatband, plate top, gripper, case conveyor, rubber topped and roller fitted chain in a variety of materials and finishes.

As with transmission chain if you have special coveyor chain then you will need the correct sprockets to drive it. Supplied pilot bore, taper-lock fitting or machined to your specifiaction we can provide the solution to your problem in a variety of materials including steel, cast iron, stainless steel and plastic.

Special Offer With our new trade store now open (See Page 4) we thought we would bring back one of our more popular special offers to celebrate.

The engineer’s hand cleaner kit contains our 1 litre PR88 pre work cream as well as our 500ml Tegedin hand cleaner.

The PR88 cream is applied before work and acts as a barrier, protecting skin from filth and grime. All that is needed is a peanut sized amount of cream to be applied to the hand. Once this dries it provides up to 4 hours protection, or untill the hand is exposed to water. Each one litre tub gives approximately 300 applications!

Tegedin is a powerful wood flour based hand cleaner for use after work. It is ideal for general industry as well as car and trade workshops. Best of all it contains no sand so you don’t have to worry about blocked drains.

This issue we have a Cal-Cu-Do-Ku puzzle. The rules are:

Enter the numbers 1—6 so that they are not repeated in each row and column.

You must however ensure that the values in each coloured section add up to the value given in the top left of each section.

For example in this section the two numbers must equal 7 (e.g 1+6, 2+5 or 3+4).

Good Luck

A retired sergeant inherited a parrot

from a recently departed relative who

had run a seedy dockside pub. For the

first few days in his new home the

talkative parrot was distinctly shy. The

Sergeant, despite his stern ways, felt

sorry for the bird and encouraged it with

soft words and pieces of fruit.

After a week or so the parrot began to

find its voice. Responding to the kind

treatment, the parrot's vocabulary

continued to recover, including the many

colourful expressions it had picked up in

the pub. The old sergant began to be

quite irritated by the bird's rudeness,

and decided action was required to bring

it under control. The sergeant tried at

first to incentivise the parrot with the

promise of reward for good behaviour,

but to no avail. He next tried to teach the

bird a lesson by withdrawing its

privileges, again to no avail. Finally the

Sergeant flipped into battleground

management mode; he grabbed the bird

and thrust the struggling parrot, into the

freezer, slamming the door tightly shut.

The swearing and struggling noises

continued inside for a few seconds and

then abruptly stopped. The sergeant

listened for a while and then, concerned

that the parrot's shock might have been

terminal, carefully opened the door. The

parrot slowly clambered out and

perched on its ledge.

"I must apologise for my rude and

disrespectful behaviour," said the

parrot, "I promise never to use bad

language again. And by the way, what

did the turkey do?"

Last issue we announced that work was underway on renovating our existing trade counter into a more expansive store. We are happy to announce that this work has now been completed!

The new store now has twice the amount of floor space with large stocks of a wider selection of consumable items including oils & grease, maintenance sprays, handcleaner, fastners, selection kits and protective saftety wear.

We hope that you agree that the result has definitely been worth the effort. So the next time your in the area why not pop in and let us know what you think of the changes.
