As Mwaghogho Secondary Schoolcruised other terms worth of defen-

sive talent and rolled the ball past otherschool goalkeepers in past years, I foundmyself shouting, cavorting and – most im-portant, this – demanding that the worldshould agree with me that the goal waspretty well as good as the one scored by an-other small school, against many years ear-lier. My companion that we have duty and

acceded. And that, I thought, was enough for a good evening’sfootball entertainment. But not a bit of it. Courtesy of local radiostations, which are risible in all editorial matters except, predicta-bly, football, I was able to listen to more or less all of Mwag-hogho Secondary School manager James Nanjete press confer-enceMR. NANJETEHOD Games [coach football]

THE IMPORTANCE OF CHRISTIAN UNION IN OUR SCHOOL

Through the Holy Bibles teachings, it con-demns evil in the society and encouraged holi-ness as stated in Galatians 5:19-26. Thishelps the members to live together peacefully. In addition Christian Union plays a majorrole by instilling the spirit of God fearing inthe society. Through Gods word to serve himeffectively in various ministries. By so doing, the Church of Christ will be fully prepared forthe rapture which is just around the corner. As we all know this world is not our home, weare just pilgrims. We have a destinationwhere we are heading to. Heaven and earthand all the things there in will pass away. Butthe word of God will never pass away. Oneday we shall all appear before the throne ofGod for judgment in accordance to our deeds. Therefore, let us all prepare for this great dayso that we may not be found worthy to inheriteverlasting life. This is the major function ofChristian union in this institution witch dif-ferentiates it from other groups.

God bless you as you prepare for the coming ofour Lord Jesus Christ.

AMON MWATELA

CHRISTIAN UNION CHAIRMAN

G lory be to God the Father throughhis son Jesus Christ, who shedhis precious blood for the remis-

sion of our sins. Having accomplishedhis mission of saving mankind on thecross, he said ‘all is finished'. He wasburied and rose from the grave the thirdday ascended into the havens where he issitting on the right hand of the fathermaking intercessions for us. Above all,he did not leave ‘SAINTS’ as peasants, but he seen us the holy spirit who is ourhelper. Our faith as Christians is rootedin Jesus Christ as our lord and ourSavior of our lives. Here at MWAG-HOGHO there are many clubs and socie-ties with different rules and diverse objec-tives to be achieved. For me, ChristianUnion is not a club or a society. This isso because it deals with super naturallyissues which can not be comprehendedwith normal human kind mind, but re-quires the revelation of God.

‘Fist’ Christ Union develops and encour-ages faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in itsmembers, thus enabling them to overcomethe daily challenges of life. As we seefrom 1st john 5:4, only those who havefaith in the lord Jesus Christ overcomethe world. Challenges like the lust of theflesh, pride of life and even stress whichwhen succumbed to may lead to the acqui-sition of the daily diseases and even sui-cide are well tackled through faith inChrist.

Secondly, Christian Union is quite fun-damental in this institution due to thefact that it encourages and promotes mo-rality or virtues within the society.

SPIRITUAL CORNER

L ife is sacred and a special giftthat has its origin and destiny in

God. philosophers speak of hierar-chy of such as human life , animal lifeand plant life. Our world has manyproponents of the sanctity of life.Among them there are environmen-talists fighting for a clean, healthyenvironment and plant life. InKenya ,the laureate professor Wan-gari Mathai encourages people toplant trees .This in a way promotesplant life.

There are other groups of peoplewho advocate for the rights of ani-mals. Some countries have enactedlaws on how to care for and protectanimals . Animals like dogs, cats, and chimpanzees are given specialattention. The question one wouldpose is, spent their energy , why ishuman life terminated by some peo-ple? Talking about hierarchy , hu-man life is at the top.

Human life is rotational, consciousand is dignified. Among God’s crea-tures , a human being is the only oneaware of God as a supernatural be-ing, creator of everything. God isgiven homage as the author and sus-tainer of life. One wonders why arotational, spiritual human beingwho recognizes God as the creatormassacres a fellow human being. Why a rotational, spiritual humanbeing. Why do we kill one another?Right on how 80% of Kenyans areChristians and about 90% are be-lievers in God. Its is extremelyshocking and puzzling to hear onradio, see on Television, read News-papers that human beings have at-tacked fellow human and killedthem. We have seen and heard of

killings in Mt. Elgon , central Kenya ,kitale, Nakuru Enospuukia. Recentlywe have heard of bomb blasts in thecity (suicide bombers even):whysuch heinous evil act?

A true disciple of JesusChrist knows very well that he isthe way, the truth and life(John14:6). Jesus as the goodshepherd says he came in thatwe may have life and it abun-dantly (John 10:10). Jesus givesus life in Genesis God said “letus make human beings In ourown image and like-ness” (Genesis1:26) and indeedhe did. In the same book , God

took soil from the groundand formed a human being, hebreathed into him and he beganto live .(Genesis2:7).It is wonder-ful to note that human beingshave divine breathe and are inGod’s image and likeness . Thisis the beginning of our dignity ,hence sanctity of life. Brothersand sisters who are engaged inthe practice of killing please

STOP . Our country Kenya isbeautiful and blessed. Killingone another will take us no-where. Look at our neighboringcountries. Those that have beenand are on the path of killingse.g. Rwanda Burundi , Angola,Northern Uganda , Sudan etc.have never enjoyed peace.

Members recognizethat this languageDepartment holdsthe key to academicexcellence. A stu-dent with good pro-ficiency skills in lan-guage will definitelypass his or her ex-ams.With this in mind, members collaborateand co-operate witheach other.Teaching and

evaluation strategiesare ensured to en-hance good perform-ance in the language.Students are alsofree to share ideasamongst them-selves . Team teach-ing is encouragedand curriculumstipulations are fol-lowed to the letter. This is made possi-ble by the adequacyand appropriatenessof learning andteaching resources inthe institution. It isno wonder the sub-ject in the depart-ment has improvedfor the last threeyears. However the depart-ment admits someset-backs, for in-stance the use of‘sheng’ and the poorbackground of stu-dents. The languagebackground of thestudent matters a lotbecause it is sequen-tial that is from oralliterature [listeningand speaking] to

reading to writing. As a department wewould like to recog-nize the efforts madeby the administra-tion in ensuring thatlearning and teach-ing resources areavailed to students ingood times and theparents for their con-tinuous and solidsupport in buying tothe students requiredset books.Just like any othersubject we have afew students whohave deep rootednegative attitude to-wards the subject orwho are inherentlylazy , too lazy to doany practice . Butthis has not deterredour spirit.Lastly I wish mem-bers of the depart-ment and the entireschool good healthas they continueworking hard.Thank youGod bless you.

ICT –THE LIGHT OFTHE SCHOOL. BRIAN KENYAPRESIDENT ICT CLUB

Technology is themaking, modifica-

tion, usage, and knowl-edge of tools, ma-chines, techniques, crafts, systems, meth-ods of organization, inorder to solve a prob-lem, improve a preex-isting solution to aproblem, achieve a goalor perform a specificfunction. It can alsorefer to the collection ofsuch tools, machinery, modifications, arrange-ments and procedures.Technologies signifi-cantly affect human aswell as other animalspecies' ability to con-trol and adapt to theirnatural environments. The distinction between

science, engineeringand technology is notalways clear. Science isthe reasoned investiga-tion or study of phe-nomena, aimed at dis-covering enduring prin-ciples among elementsof the phenomenalworld by employingformal techniques suchas the scientificmethod.[13] Technolo-gies are not usuallyexclusively products ofscience, because theyhave to satisfy require-ments such as utility, usability and safety.

Engineering is the goal-oriented process of de-signing and makingtools and systems toexploit natural phenom-ena for practical humanmeans, often (but notalways) using resultsand techniques fromscience. The develop-ment of technologymay draw upon manyfields of knowledge, including scientific, engineering, mathe-matical, linguistic, andhistorical knowledge, toachieve some practicalresult.Technology isoften a consequence ofscience and engineering

— although technologyas a human activityprecedes the two fields. For example, sciencemight study the flow ofelectrons in electricalconductors, by usingalready-existing toolsand knowledge. Thisnew-found knowledgemay then be used byengineers to create newtools and machines, such as semiconduc-tors, computers, andother forms of ad-vanced technology. Inthis sense, scientistsand engineers may bothbe considered technolo-gists; the three fieldsare often considered asone for the purposes ofresearch and reference.

Our vision MwaghoghoI.C.T club is to makeall and sundry under-stand and appreciatethe trend in InformationCommunication andTechnology. We shouldchange with time bysimply accepting andappreciating positivechanges. Let us em-brace technology sincethat’s what’s on thetrend. We should makegood use of it and sup-port it fully by accept-
