We thank all those who bought tickets and joined us for our big celebratory Spring Gala. Our goal has been to raise money to support our programs and services, but also to bring our community together to have fun, and we hope everyone enjoyed them-selves. For those who generously purchased the Silent Auction items, bought sponsorships and took out messages and ads in the Program, we appreciate you so much. And for the many, many people who pitched in to plan and prepare for the Gala, our deep-

est thanks. Thank you everyone for being such a vital part of our CBOI family.

CBOI Scholarship Information

Kessel-Young Memorial Scholarship

The Kessel-Young Memorial Scholarship Fund was es-tablished in June 1976 by Ida Kessel and the late Joseph Kes-sel in memory of their parents, Lena and Louis Kessel and Do-ra and Louis Young.

A scholarship will be awarded to a member of our Con-gregation graduating from high school, on the basis of need, to further the student’s education.

Applicants must be “hard workers” who will benefit from this assistance. The intent is to encourage students to continue their education. Academic excellence is not a criteria for this award.

In establishing this special Fund, the Kessel Family has recognized that awards are usually made to outstanding stu-dents in either sports or academic work. All too often, many students who show promise and are willing to work are denied assistance. To receive an application for the Kessel-Young Memorial Scholarship Fund, contact the Synagogue.

George S. Weiner Religious School Scholarship Fund

The George S. Weiner Religious School Scholarship Fund has been established to aid youngsters from Congregation Brothers of Israel to attend the Rabbi Howard Hersch Reli-gious School. Scholarships will be given out based on need. Contact the CBOI office for information.

CBOI Online Learning is now available on the CBOI website at https://www.cboi.org/zoom-meetings.html Look for: The Origins of Anti-Semitism, White Suprem-acy and Hate, Human Genome: Do We Have the Right to Play G-d?, Diminishing Gun Violence: Israel and the United States: A Case Study , The Origins of Kashrut and Why We Still Do It-Part 1, How to Bring Shabbat into Your Life , and The Goldilocks of Judaism: I Want to be More Observant, But Not Too Observant.
