A note about the
Acts of the Apostles Reading
for
The Feast of Pentecost
We have traditionally read the Acts reading in
several foreign languages, usually speaking simul-
taneously. This morning we will hear three
different translations of the Bible, read
sequentially, in English.
Think of the readings as "regional dialects." Imag-
ine what it would sound like if a New Englander, a
Southerner, and an Ohio native all read different
versions of the Bible. Different translations of
scripture sometimes function as a kind of "regional
dialect," opening our ears to hear the story
differently.

Social Concerns Committee
She Has A Name, our May Caring and Sharing
agency, is new to St. Alban’s this year. Our Social Concerns Committee has researched efforts in the Columbus area to combat human trafficking and be-lieves that this agency is well-designed and effective.
She Has A Name comes at human trafficking from several directions: assisting trafficking victims to start a new life by helping them with transitional housing and employment, by providing training and support to prepare them for long-term employment, and by working with other agencies in the Survivor Care Alli-ance to boost innovation and organizational strength.
She Has A Name also offers training for community members wishing to understand human trafficking and how it can be resisted. In 2017, they served 310 survivors, and 10 people graduated from their Strate-gies for Success program. They partnered with 20 other organizations and connected 115 people with resources.
Your Caring & Sharing offering this month will support their work. You are welcome to contribute any time this month using the envelopes in the pews or simply mark your check with “Caring/Sharing” in the memo line.
Tell Us How To Reach You!
Why is this important? Because it could save your life...
Recently, a parishioner who regularly attends meetings did not show up for several days. No one heard from him. Concerned for his safety, a fellow church member tried to contact him. Checking the parishioner’s pastoral care contact file, information was found on how to reach a neighbor and friend. As a result of team work with the neighbor, medical assistance was pro-vided and a dear parishioner’s life was saved.
This sounds dramatic, and it is! It illustrates how important it is for the church to have a “contact person” for you in case of an emergency. All in-formation is confidential.
The church is your place for renewal, and some-
times rescue! Please take a minute to contact
Rev. Nicolette, Eileen Becknell, or Ernestine
Ujah to supply your information.
FOOD COLLECTION
Please help feed the hungry through food dona-tions to St. Philip’s Episcopal Church Food Pan-try.
When you go grocery shopping, please pur-chase a couple of cans of vegetables or other items to donate.
Staples such as rice, spaghetti, cereals, peanut but-ter, and canned fruit are great too. Also needed are diapers, soap and other hygiene items that cannot be purchased with food stamps.
There is a box in the Living Room for your contributions.
Residential energy audits available
Ohio Interfaith Power & Light’s residential energy audit pro-
gram is intended to increase efficiency in home energy use.
Valued at $500- including a programmable thermostat and/or
low flow shower head, safety check of gas furnace and more,
the audit costs only $50 per home. Furthermore, for every
residential energy audit completed, St Albans gets $20 back to
benefit its programs.
Parishioners interested in receiving an energy audit should
contact one of the Wardens (Mike Bissell, Sr. Warden or Tim
Williams, Jr Warden), who will sign them up for Columbia Gas
to contact them and schedule their energy audit. This initiative
runs from April through June 2018.
Please consider participating in this effort to save energy, save
money, and save God’s creation through energy efficiency! The
benefits will accrue for many years!

1. Whether you wish both the first and last name of the person, or only the first name on the prayer list.

4. Your name, and how to reach you, in case we need contact information for the person.
PLEASE HELP KEEP THE PRAYER
LIST CURRENT.
It is our desire to keep our prayer list current. We
can achieve this by keeping in touch with the per-
son/persons who made the prayer request. It is im-
portant not to remove anyone until we have current
information regarding the individual’s condition of
health or circumstances. Please, if you placed some-
one on the prayer list, notify us 3-4 weeks after the
request with an update on the person’s condition.
We’re happy to continue to pray for those in need.
Also, the following names have been on the prayer
list for some time under those serving in the military.
If you have current information regarding their mili-
tary status please provide us with that information.
We will keep them on the prayer list for 4 weeks
with the hope that we will receive an update.
