THE STAR AUGUST 2019 Generosity Sightings The flowers are watered. The lawn is mowed. The walls are painted. The pulpit Bible is marked. The bookshelves are cleaned off. The recycling is recycled. The weeds are pulled. The hole is dug; the tree is planted. The shrubs are trimmed. The special music is rehearsed. The visits are made. The lightbulb is changed. The ants are trapped. The prayers are prayed. The cake is baked. The birthday phone calls are made. The Sunday School lessons are planned. The floor is swept. The minutes are typed. The tree limbs are cut. The meetings are held. The checks are written. The supplies are purchased. The helpers are organized and reminded. . . . . . . . . . Somewhere along the way, I was taught two things: Never use a lot of different fonts on one page! And avoid using the passive voice whenever possible! Now that I have your attention, I hope you’ll note the long list I’ve made. I also hope you’ll note that this list could go on and on and on. Perhaps you find yourself somewhere in these words. I hope so! If not, it’s probably just because the list couldn’t be exhaustive. There are so many generous souls, often working behind the scenes, to make our congregation and its facility the best that it can be. For the love of God and neighbor, for the sake of ministry, so many of you dedicate your time, money, and energy. This usually happens without special thanks or public acknowledgement, but I want you to know that it is noticed! YOU are noticed! Thank you. Working together with a common purpose is what ministry is all about. I look forward to what the future holds for us. Blessings, Pastor Missy

We went to Mars and Beyond!

In June, the Advent, Central, and East Hills congregations joined together for Vacation Bible School. There were over 40 campers and lots of helpers making the week a wonderful success. Thanks so much to our Advent volunteers – Shirley Chiles (group leader), Sue Wisnoski & Claudia Carr (nurses), and Morgen Johnson (science assistant).
