REPORT TO THE ACADEMIC SENATE
In alignment with the College's vision and mission, the Division
strives to educate and prepare students to realize their academic
goals through the completion of a variety of science-based
professional programs, and to gain skills necessary to further their
training & education at degree-granting institutions.
MISSION OF THE SCIENCE DIVISION
We offer certificate, degree and transfer courses that have
established road maps that guide students to meet their
educational goals. Virtually all of our courses satisfy the IGETC
and UC/CSU requirements.

ADJUNCT FACULTY:
1. What has your division done to ensure that syllabi consistently and accurately contain student learning outcomes and that the outcomes reflect the approved SLOs on the Course Outline of Record?
The Division will be adopting Curriculum Committee’s recommendations as courses are created or updated:
A customized syllabus template for each course be included as part of the Course Outline of Record (COR).
The course syllabus template will include, as non-editable items, all information required by Board Rules and ACCJC standards: the approved course description, course objectives, approved Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs), units, methods of evaluation, student code of conduct, academic dishonesty, and Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) contact information.
Each course syllabus template will be integrated as an addendum to the COR and accessible to faculty via the Electronic Curriculum Development (ECD) District website.
Science SLO Assessment Progress
• 100% completion for the SLO assessment cycle for the academic year 2016-2017
• SLOs have been updated for all Science Division courses
▫ two SLOs per course – SLO addenda filed for each COR
▫ uploaded to TracDat
• Updated SLOs have been disseminated to all Science Division faculty
▫ requirement for the new SLOs on syllabi
• Division will adopt updated common template form once finalized
▫ sub-committee members: Patricia Zuk (Science) & Matt Robertson (Math)
2. What has your division done to ensure that the Course Outline of Record in ECD includes a completed DE Addendum and a DE Delivery Strategies form? How do you ensure that all objectives listed on the COR are addressed on the DE Delivery Strategies form?*
The Division will follow the motion that was approved by Academic Senate on 2/8/17; faculty that would would be teaching online or hybrid classes during summer 2017 must submit DE addenda via ECD latest by May 2017. Division Chair and Curriculum Chair will work one-on-one with the online instructors!
3. What are you doing to ensure all faculty members
are being evaluated on time? …
