CHILDREN’S RELIGIOUS EDUCATION Today, join Erick DuPree, religious educator, as the Chalice Children continue lessons on modeling our Unitarian Universalist principles. The second lesson in this series is being kind in all you do. The new toddler room adjacent to the Perkins Room is open for parents and their toddlers, ages 1-5, with the sermon streamed live into the space. Ministerial Intern Seanan Holland will lead the Explorers with the curriculum, You The Creator. Church School is sung out to class with the Children’s Blessing printed in your order of service, gathering downstairs in the Perkins Room. All are welcome. These dark days present special challenges. This workshop will show you how to create a sustainable spirit and make clear what you can do specifically to stay resilient. You’ll gain new tools and frameworks to live without fear, and learn to flourish not despite challenges, but rather because of them. Resilience is one of the Six Fundamental Human Desires. It’s never too early or too late to be resilient! This month’s service features Unitarian Universalist music directors Mark David Buckles and Amy Lynne Menard, and will explore the theme of metamorphosis. Discover that we truly are “stardust” and are intimately connected to one another and the universe around us. First Church in Jamaica Plain is located at 6 Eliot Street at the corner of centre and south streets (the stone church across from the monument). All are welcome! Zradci 2010 Season Opening Gala Friday, February 5th ~ 8:00 PM, Sanctuary This is the inaugural season of the new music ensemble, Zradci, founded by local musicians Jacob Mashak, Beth Goodman, and our own Molly Wood. Zradci’s mission is to bring to the public, through performance and educational outreach, unique ways of presenting, performing, composing, seeing, hearing, experiencing, and understanding music. This concert features the music of John Cage, Philip Glass, Jacob Mashak, Joel Mathys, and P.Q. Phan. Suggested donation of $10.
