Congratulations on purchasing Industrial Kiln & Dryer’s T-Trac® Precision Beam Alignment System! You can rest assured you have invested in a highly accurate measurement tool that will pay for itself after one use. By utilizing the T-Trac® Precision Beam, you can now establish a baseline of parallel alignment between the rollers and tires, which is perhaps the most critical preventative maintenance procedure for all types of rotary equipment. We have taken our industry leading position in measuring instruments and have eliminated the guesswork for users attempting to move their equipment into location without having specific and field verifiable location data.

This tool is used on rotary kilns or dryers, which are large rotating units with many pinch points that can cause serious injuries and even fatalities. Therefore only specialized and trained personnel shall work close to these machines. To use the T-Trac® Precision Beam, follow strictly the local safety rules given by the respective plant/factory/local authorities, like lock out tag out procedure, and discuss the application with the safety department.

The tool provided by Industrial Kiln & Dryer Group® has proven its safe functionality in various applications; nevertheless, Industrial Kiln & Dryer Group® does not take any responsibility for the application on site regarding safety. The plant is responsible for the safety of their workers, according to the local laws, in a way that no one can be hurt or injured. The application and safety instructions below are guidelines, which include the experience from previous measurement campaigns and might need to be adapted to the local safety requirements.

10.) Place the T-Trac® Precision Beam onto the side of the trunnion/support roller with both digital indicators’ sensing rods in contact with the tire at an equal distance in from the edge of the tire.

11.) If both indicators read the same number, it indicates the trunnion/support roller is parallel with the tire. If different numbers appear, adjustments will be required to achieve equal readings.

slight skew aligned - no skew

12.) Repeat these steps on the remaining trunnions/support rollers.

13.) After adjustments, you have zeroed out all skews on the trunnions/support rollers.

Best Practices: Record all adjustments for future reference Warning: Unit will need to be floated during start up. Disclaimer: Trunnions/support rollers and tires must be on the same slope to achieve proper alignment. Loose components may also have an adverse effect in obtaining proper alignment.

If you drop or damage your T-Trac® Precision Beam, it may be sent back for recalibration. Contact your representative at 877-316-6140.

1.) Lock out, tag out the equipment as directed by the safety department.

2.) Remove safety guards, clean trunnion(s)/support roller(s) and tires of all dirt and grease. Inspect tire rigging and trunnion bearings to assure maintenance is not required. Inspect tire and trunnion/support roller surfaces to assure good condition. Inspect frame and supports for loose connections and assure frame is square and level according to manufacturer’s specifications.

3.) Remove the T-Trac® Precision Beam from the case. Attach the T-handle magnetic pulling bolts (3) to the beam of the T-Trac®. The T-handle magnetic pullingbolts should be screwed inentirely.

Note: This prevents shocking the magnets and reduces the risk of breaking the magnets

4.) Carefully attach the beam to the side of the trunnion/support

roller with the raised magnets on the trunnion/support roller and indicator mounts pointed up toward the tire. Adjust the

T-handle magnetic pulling boltsto allow full contact between

the magnets and trunnion/support roller.

5.) Determine which holes to use to mount the indicator assembly to the beam that will deflect the indicator sensing rods at least 1/4”

6.) Once you have determined which mounting holes to use, remove the T-Trac® Precision Beam from the trunnion/support roller.
