    TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18

    THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS

EXODUS 25:8-9 (NKJV) 8 And let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them 9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it

This strategic statement articulates the very heart-throb of the God, who has chosen to reveal Himself to

humankind The benevolent Father Who has given to His kingly children the honor of searching Him out (Proverbs 25:2) The TABERNACLE OF MOSES furnishes a deep mine of golden truth for the people upon whom the end of this age is come (1 Corinthians 10:11) Contained in this Old Testament ‘object lesson’ is every vital New Testament doctrine without which God's end-time people cannot properly understand His eternal purposes

The experimental knowledge of these divine principles is set forth and displayed in this Mosaic ‘pattern’ (Exodus 25:40)

    - Dr. Kelly Varner (The Tabernacle is Jesus) -

    1. WHAT ARE THE 3 DIVISIONS OF THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES?

The Tabernacle of Moses was a portable tent erected in the wilderness of Sinai

This was the place where God met with redeemed Israel

It was God's ‘address’ and Israel's worship centre for over 600 years

    HOWEVER

It was not meant to be a permanent dwelling place

The materials needed to build the Tabernacle came from blessings Israel received from Egypt (the looting of Egypt)

The Tabernacle was constructed in complete accordance with God's plan No part of the Tabernacle was the result of human imagination or design

    It had 3 subdivisions :

    1.1 OUTER COURT

The outer court had 2 pieces of furniture : 1.1.1 The Brazen Altar and

    1.1.2 The Brazen Laver

    1.2 THE HOLY PLACE

This room had 3 pieces of furniture :

1.2.1 The candlestick 1.2.2 The table of showbread, and

1.2.3 The golden altar of incense

    1.3 THE MOST HOLY PLACE

This was the location of the ARK OF THE COVENANT

The most holiest of places, where the presence of God was manifested

    2. WHAT LOCATIONS IN SCRIPTURE ARE REFERRED TO

AS THE ‘DWELLING PLACE’ OF GOD?

DEF : DWELLING = YASHAB (Hebrew)

    (Phonetic : yaw-shab')

= To dwell = To remain = To sit = To abide

    2.1 HEAVEN

1 KINGS 8:30 (NKJV) 30 And may You hear the supplication of Your servant and of Your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear in heaven Your dwelling place; and when You hear, forgive

1 KINGS 8:39 (NKJV) 39 then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men)

Heaven is the place of His sitting We cannot localize, limit or contain divinity

1 KINGS 8:27 (NKJV) 27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 5/32)

ISAIAH 66:1 (NKJV) 1 Thus says the LORD:

‘Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?’

This must not be seen as God sitting in an armchair

Heaven is the seat of His authority To localize His presence is to deny His immensity and omnipresence Space does not contain God God contains space

JEREMIAH 23:24 (NKJV) 24 ‘Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?’ says the LORD; ‘Do I not fill heaven and earth?’ says the LORD

When Solomon says that heaven is God’s dwelling place it is more to imply the separation of Almighty God from sinful man

He knew that heaven could not contain God – see 1 Kings 8:27 above

    2.2 THE GARDEN OF EDEN

GENESIS 3:8 (NKJV) 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden

    NB!!

    2.3 THE TABERNACLE OF MOSES

EXODUS 25:8-9 (NKJV) 8 And let them make Me a sanctuary that I may dwell among them 9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it

    2.4 THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID

2 SAMUEL 6:17 (NKJV) 17 So they brought the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD

    2.5 THE TEMPLE OF SOLOMON

2 CHRONICLES 5:13-14 (NKJV) 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music,

and praised the LORD, saying: ‘For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,’ that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God 2 CHRONICLES 6:1-2 (NKJV) 1 Then Solomon spoke: ‘The LORD said He would dwell in the dark cloud 2 I have surely built You an exalted house, and a place for You to dwell in forever’

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 7/32)

2 CHRONICLES 6:1-2 (ESV) 1 Then Solomon said, ‘The Lord has said

that he would dwell in thick darkness’ 2 But I have built you an exalted house, a place for you to dwell in forever

    2.6 CHRIST

2 CORINTHIANS 5:19 (NKJV) 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation

    2.7 THE CHURCH

1 CORINTHIANS 3:16 (NKJV) 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

    3. WHAT IS THE FATHER’S HOUSE AND THE MANSIONS IN SCRIPTURE?

JOHN 14:2-3 (NKJV) 2 In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also

The Father’s house is not heaven

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 8/32)

God does not live in a house

He is not contained in a space – HE CONTAINS SPACE

GENESIS 1:1 (NKJV) 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth – where was God living before the heavens were created? God is Spirit – He does not need a material house to live in

ISAIAH 66:1 (NKJV) 1 Thus says the LORD: ‘Heaven is My throne, and earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?’

    Heaven is His throne

    NOT His home

It is the seat of His government The house of God is the Family of God

    DEF : HOUSE = OIKIA (Greek) (Phonetic : oy-kee'-ah)

= Property = Residence (abstractly), but usually

(concretely) = An abode (literally or figuratively) = By implication a family (especially

    domestics)

God initially revealed himself in the garden

    THEREAFTER

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 9/32)

In the Tabernacle of Moses, then the Tabernacle of David and Temple of Solomon

Where after, Zerubabbel’s temple and later Herod’s temple were regarded as places to meet God

    THEN GOD CAME IN CHRIST

2 CORINTHIANS 5:19 (NKJV) 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation

    COLOSSIANS 2:9 (NKJV) 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;

When Jesus walked the earth in the flesh, He was the only dwelling place of God, as the First of the New Man, and the new order of God’s House, or His dwelling place Next, let us consider the word ‘mansions’

JOHN 14:2 (KJV) 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have

told you. I go to prepare a place for you DEF : MANSIONS = MONÉ (Greek)

    (Phonetic : mon-ay')

    = A staying = An abiding = A dwelling = An abode = To make one's abode = Metaphorically, used of God

(the Holy Spirit) who indwells believers

The Father’s house is the family of God

EZEKIEL 37:27 (NKJV) 27 My tabernacle also shall be with

them; indeed I will be their God, and they shall be My people

EZEKIEL 37:27 (NIV) 27 My dwelling place will be with them; I will be their God, and they will be my people REVELATION 21:3 (NKJV) 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God’

The Father’s house has many dwelling places

Every believer is a dwelling place

Jesus in the flesh was the only dwelling place

He went to prepare the dwelling places Where was He going?

For this we have to refer to the preceding chapters

JOHN 12:23-24 (NKJV) 23 But Jesus answered them, saying, ‘the hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain’

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 11/32)

JOHN 13:36 (NKJV) 36 Simon Peter said to Him, ‘Lord, where

are You going?’ Jesus answered him, ‘Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward’

He was going to His death on the cross

His death on the cross – as the Seed fallen into the ground - would produce much grain – many dwelling places His blood would clean those dwelling places The Father’s house is the family of God – THE CHURCH – THE MANY MEMBERED BODY OF CHRIST It is the Father’s house not our house We should stop looking for a material house or mansion, fashioned by our carnal imaginations This house, the church is the ultimate dwelling place of God As an individual you are the temple of God

1 CORINTHIANS 6:19 (NKJV) 19 Or do you not know that your body is

the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

As the corporate body we are the temple of God

1 CORINTHIANS 3:16-17 (NKJV) 16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are

JOHN 14:23 (NKJV) 23 Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If

anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him’ JOHN 14:23 (AMPC) 23 Jesus answered, If a person [really] loves Me, he will keep My word [obey My teaching]; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home (abode, special dwelling place) with him.

As we saw earlier, the word ‘home’ is the Greek word ‘moné’, which means mansion

The Father and the Son make you the mansion, the dwelling place

REVELATION 21:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is

with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God

The Church, the New Jerusalem, the Holy City is the Tabernacle of God – The house of the Father

    4. WHAT WAS THE INITIAL PURPOSE OF THE

TABERNACLE OF MOSES? 4.1 TO BE A DWELLING PLACE FOR GOD

EXODUS 25:8 (NKJV) 8 And let them make Me a sanctuary,

that I may dwell among them

God always wanted to be among His people 4.2 TO REVEAL THE HEAVENLY PATTERN

HEBREWS 9:23-24 (NKJV) 23 Therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these 24 For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us

HEBREWS 8:5 (NKJV) 5 who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, ‘See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain’

4.3 THE TABERNACLE, AS WITH ALL SCRIPTURE, SERVES AS AN EXAMPLE FOR OUR ADMONITION AND LEARNING

1 CORINTHIANS 10:6 (NKJV) 6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted

1 CORINTHIANS 10:11 (NKJV) 11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 14/32)

ROMANS 15:4 (NKJV) 4 For whatever things were written

before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope

4.4 THE TABERNACLE, AS WITH THE ENTIRETY OF THE

    WORD, TYPIFIES OR FORESHADOWS CHRIST

HEBREWS 10:7 (NKJV) 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God’

GALATIANS 3:24 (NKJV) 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith

HEBREWS 10:1 (NKJV) 1 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect

4.5 IT SERVES TO REVEAL SPIRITUAL THINGS

ROMANS 1:20 (NKJV) 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse

1 CORINTHIANS 15:46 (NKJV) 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual

    5. HOW DOES THE TABERNACLE AND THE MIGRATION

    OF ISRAEL PICTURE THE CROSS?

5.1 When viewed from the entrance gate, the entrance gate,

brazen laver, door of the tent, golden altar of incense, veil and Ark of the Covenant are in the same vertical plane

The candlestick and table of showbread are on the same horizontal plane

THUS We see the cross configuration hidden in the tabernacle

5.2 In Numbers 2:3-31 we see the 12 tribes arranged in 4 groups

around the tabernacle to form a cross when viewed from above

5.3 Israel’s passage through the red sea was also a cross

    formation

We see the cross as key component and part of the deliverance from Egypt

    THAT IS

The cross in the sense that the passage through the sea formed one angle of the cross (vertical) and the sea formed the other angle of the cross (horizontal)

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 16/32)

COPYRIGHT © Touch the Nations Apostolic Bible School (TTNABS)

    SIMILARLY

Israel's passage through Jordan river was also a cross formation

Again, we see the cross before the blessings of the Promised Land

5.4 Gazing at the brazen serpent upon the pole (Nehushtan) in

the desert brought deliverance from death for a nation poisoned by serpents

This is a picture of Christ on the cross, redeeming man from the poison of sin

5.5 The cross is the revelation of the wisdom of God - not its

structure but the Person who died on it

The Jews stumbled at the cross They expected the Messiah to come with signs and wonders, like Moses and Elijah and bring political deliverance All they saw on the cross was shame and weakness This perception locked them out of the Kingdom of God The Greeks on the other hand, found their esteem in

science, philosophy and self-gratification Jesus was not of noble birth, neither was His career as a carpenter attractive All they saw on the cross was foolishness

1 CORINTHIANS 1:23 (NKJV) 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness

1 CORINTHIANS 2:6-8 (NKJV) 6 However, we speak wisdom among

those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory

1 CORINTHIANS 2:2 (NKJV) 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified

Paul declares that the preaching of Christ crucified is the wisdom of God

The Tabernacle of Moses was built according to the plan of God (the wisdom of God)

EXODUS 40:16 (NKJV) 16 Thus Moses did; according to all that the LORD had commanded him, so he did

Nothing in the Tabernacle was the result of human imagination or design

Like the cross it was the revelation of the wisdom of God

5.6 Jacob crossed his hands to confer the greater blessing upon

    Ephraim

GENESIS 48:13-14 (NKJV) 13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim with his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh with his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near him

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 18/32)

14 Then Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on Ephraim’s head,

who was the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands knowingly, for Manasseh was the firstborn

5.7 Isaac's carrying of the stack of wood to mount Moriah,

prefigures Christ's obedience in carrying the cross

GENESIS 22:6 (NKJV) 6 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together

The result of which was the blessings of the Life of Christ to us, through the Cross

GENESIS 22:17-18 (NKJV) 17 In blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the

earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice

GALATIANS 6:14 (NKJV) 14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world

In the lessons to come, we look at the various unique aspects of the Tabernacle, and its current day application to us as believers

In the words of the late Dr. Kelly Varner

‘Set before you now is a feast of truth Remember, it is not WHAT you know, but WHO you know The anointed Word, energized by the Holy Spirit, is about to change you forever The Tabernacle is a PERSON

    - May Christ's SACRIFICE be more understood

    - May Christ's CROSS be more significant

    - May Christ's VICTORY be more personal

    - May Christ's POWER be more demonstrated

    - May Christ's GRACE be more received

    - May Christ's RESURRECTION be more visible

    THE ENTRANCE GATE

Before we venture further into our study of this ancient sanctuary’s inside, and its elements, it is appropriate that we consider the Entrance Gate or the Door of the Court

EXODUS 38:18-19 (NKJV) 18 The screen for the gate of the court was woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and of fine woven linen. The length was twenty cubits, and the height along its width was five cubits, corresponding to the hangings of the court. 19 And there were four pillars with their four sockets of bronze; their hooks were silver, and the overlay of their capitals and their bands was silver

EXODUS 27:16 (NKJV) 16 For the gate of the court there shall be a screen twenty cubits long, woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, made by a weaver. It shall have four pillars and four sockets

NUMBERS 2:2-3 (NKJV) 2 ‘Everyone of the children of Israel shall camp by his own standard, beside the emblems of his father’s house; they shall camp some distance from the tabernacle of meeting 3 On the east side, toward the rising of the sun, those of the standard of the forces with Judah shall camp according to their armies; and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be the leader of the children of Judah’

  • TTNABS 2 : LESSON 18 – THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS AND ENTRANCE GATE (PAGE 21/32)

    1. WHAT STRUCTURAL FEATURES DID THE ENTRANCE

    GATE CONTAIN?

    • The entrance gate faced eastward

    • The entrance gate faced the campsite of the Tribe of Judah, which camped under the banner of a lion

    • The gate was the only entrance into the Tabernacle

    • The gate had 4 colours - white (fine twined linen), blue, purple and scarlet

    • It was 20 cubits long and 5 cubits high

    • There were 4 pillars, each pillar with a silver Chapiter (the ornamental head or capital of a pillar) and hook

    • The pillars stood on brass sockets

    2. DISCUSS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE EMBLEMS OF THE ENTRANCE GATE AS TYPES POINTING TO CHRIST

2.1 THE GATE POINTS TO JESUS CHRIST AS THE ONLY

    ENTRANCE INTO THE TABERNACLE

JOHN 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’

In using the words ‘No one’, Jesus seals His exclusivity as the only Door or Gate

    ACTS 4:12 (NKJV)

12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for

there is no other name under heaven

given among men by which we must be

    saved

    1 TIMOTHY 2:5 (NKJV)

5 For there is one God and one Mediator

between God and men, the Man Christ

    Jesus

JOHN 10:9 (NKJV) 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture

Jesus Christ is the only way to enter the Kingdom of God Christians say that Jesus is the only way, not because of personal opinion, but because this is what Jesus and the scriptures assert The Scriptures indicate that there are no alternatives

MATTHEW 11:27 (NKJV) 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him JOHN 10:9 (NKJV) 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture

Paul echoes this truth later in Scripture as well

ACTS 4:12 (NKJV) 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved

1 TIMOTHY 2:5 (NKJV) 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus

2.2 THE GATE FACED THE CAMPSITE OF JUDAH WHICH CAMPED UNDER THE BANNER OF A LION

Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah

REVELATION 5:5 (NKJV) 5 But one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals’

    2.3 THE GATE FACED EASTWARD

EZEKIEL 43:4 (NKJV) 4 And the glory of the LORD came into the temple by way of the gate which faces toward the east

MATTHEW 2:2 (NKJV) 2 ‘Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him’

This also pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ

    2.4 THE 4 COLOURS

The gate was clearly demarcated by its colours No one could miss it Jesus stands out from all men because of His unique birth, ministry, death, and resurrection

The 4 colours point to Jesus in the 4 gospels, as follows:

    2.4.1 PURPLE

This symbolizes ROYALTY, kingly sovereignty It is the mingling of blue and scarlet, of Heaven and earth Our King is the colour Purple - Jesus is very God and very Man

He is the King of kings He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah The Gospel of Matthew presents Jesus as the King

    2.4.2 SCARLET

    Points to His sacrifice

SCARLET is the colour of BLOOD This stands for sacrifice and suffering and is the basic colour of humanity ("Adam" means "red or ruddy") Scarlet also describes the Gospel of Mark (where Jesus is the OX), who portrays Jesus as the suffering Servant of

Jehovah (Isaiah 42: 1-5) He was faithful till death, serving His Father faithfully until He was slaughtered

The Gospel of Mark presents Jesus as the Faithful Servant 2.4.3 WHITE (FINE TWINED LINEN) Points to His righteousness

He is the MAN without spot or blemish

The Gospel of Luke presents Him as the Son of Man without sin

    2.4.4 BLUE

Points to Him as the Heavenly One

Blue describes the Gospel of Matthew (where Jesus is the LION); Matthew portrays Jesus as the King

Blue also speaks of Heaven, that which is HEAVENLY in nature; and the Holy Spirit, who was sent down from Heaven As such, blue also describes the Gospel of John (where Jesus is the EAGLE, the Son of God), who portrays Jesus as the Lord from Heaven

The Gospel of John presents Jesus as the Son of God 2.5 THE 4 PILLARS

Point to the 4 gospels which reveal Jesus Christ as the Way

    2.6 HEIGHT OF 5 CUBITS

5 represents grace Entrance into the kingdom of God is through the GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD

EPHESIANS 2:8 (NKJV) 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God

    2.7 THE BRASS SOCKETS

Brass is a symbol of judgement Jesus was judged for our sins

1 CORINTHIANS 15:3 (NKJV) 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures

    3. ELABORATE FURTHER ON THE EXCLUSIVITY OF

JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOUR AND THE ONLY WAY

JOHN 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’

ISAIAH 45:21-22 (NKJV) 21 Tell and bring forth your case; yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior; there is none besides Me 22 Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other

3.1 PERSONAL GOOD WORKS IS NOT THE WAY

You will not be saved by good works Human goodness will not save you No human being is perfect in him or herself

Scriptures teach the following about our need for salvation through Christ Jesus :

    3.1.1 ALL HAVE SINNED

ROMANS 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God GALATIANS 3:22 (NKJV) 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe

ROMANS 3:9-12 (NKJV) 9 What then? Are we better than

they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin 10 As it is written: ‘There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one’

3.1.2 THE PENALTY FOR SIN IS DEATH

ROMANS 6:23 (NKJV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

Your good works will not pay the penalty

ISAIAH 64:6 (NKJV) 6 But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind,

Have taken us away 3.1.3 ONLY JESUS IS THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS

    DEF : PROPITIATION = HILASMOS (Phonetic : hil-as-mos')

    = Atonement, that is,

(concretely) an expiator (someone who make amends or reparation for one’s crimes)

1 JOHN 2:2 (NKJV) 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for

our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world 1 JOHN 4:10 (NKJV) 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins HEBREWS 10:4-14 (NKJV) 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins. 5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God’ 8 Previously saying, ‘Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them’ (which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, ‘Behold, I have come to

do Your will, O God’. He takes away the first that He may establish the second 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all 11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool

14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified

3.1.4 JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS

1 CORINTHIANS 15:3 (NKJV) 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures ROMANS 5:6-9 (NKJV) 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him

3.1.5 WE ARE SAVED BY BELIEVING IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND HIS REDEMPTIVE WORK

Believe that Christ died for your sins according to the scriptures

1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-4 (NKJV) 1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures

4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the

Scriptures ACTS 16:31 (NKJV) 31 So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household’

    4. WHY ARE OTHER RELIGIONS NOT THE WAY?

Islam and Judaism claim to be the only way

These religions and others claim that salvation is earned

On the other hand, the Bible declares that salvation is a free gift This is in direct contradiction to other religions Judaism claims that Jesus is not the Messiah Christianity claims that Jesus is the Messiah – a direct contradiction If Jesus, indeed, is the Messiah, then Judaism is false Islam claims that Allah is the only true God and Jesus is a

prophet The Bible claims that Jesus is God This also is a direct contradiction Jesus makes this claim :

JOHN 14:6 (NKJV) 6 Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’

    Is this claim valid?

    Yes!

He is the only One to have conquered death THE TOMB WAS EMPTY BECAUSE HE DEFEATED DEATH AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD

    5. CONSIDER THE INCLUSIVITY OF CHRIST 5.1 EVERYONE IS INVITED

MATTHEW 11:28 (NKJV) 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest REVELATION 22:17 (NKJV) 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely JOHN 3:16 (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life

5.2 HE WILL NEVER REJECT THOSE WHO COME TO HIM

JOHN 6:37 (NKJV) 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out

5.3 HE IS ABLE TO SAVE TO THE UTTERMOST ALL WHO

    COME TO HIM

HEBREWS 7:25 (NKJV) 25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them

from stumbling, And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy

5.4 HE IS LIFE TO ALL WHO ACCEPT HIM

1 JOHN 5:11-12 (NKJV) 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life 1 JOHN 5:13 (NKJV) 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God
