Dear ‘17 Team -
A dear K-2 friend named Steve Loney was hired by the Dallas Cowboys to coach the offensive line and specialize on tight ends. No matter who your favorite team was this season, the Cowboy offensive line was historic. Their
constant, all-out legendary effort turned a rookie quarterback and running back into the league’s best “rookie pair” in many
years (maybe ever!).
I asked Steve how these six men did it. His answer represented your partnership on the Kanakuk staff so well.
Steve said, “It’s amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets the credit. The offensive line realized that the success of the team depended on their collective effort. Each player realized that no one could succeed unless all the other players succeeded as well.”
As the offensive line goes, so goes the team. As the Kanakuk staff goes, so goes our mission to “Evangelize and equip the next generation to reach the world for Christ.”
That IS the Kanakuk staff! That’s what “I’m Third” is all about.
Jesus said it this way: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37 & 38
At Kamp, we say and strive to live - God First Others Second I’m Third
It’s been our summer theme since Kanakuk’s beginning! This summer we celebrate it. Welcome to the team.

Scripture tells us “man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart.” Kanakuk is all about the condition of heart and we all know that the heart is where a person chooses to follow God. However, be aware that we are asking for a huge amount of trust from the parents of children who cannot always see what is going on in our hearts. For that reason, we will endeavor to present a “well-groomed,” clean-cut image that will not present an objection from parents.

#KAMPLIFEis pretty simple at Kanakuk and we like it that way! Most of our days are spent in shorts, T-shirts, tennis shoes, and socks. Anything beyond that and you’ll be overdressed.
They are not essential to survive at Kamp, but an egg crate mattress pad, shower caddies, small bed fan,
alarm clock, and a water bottle are always nice to have.

Getting toKAMP
Our staff turn off and turn in their cell phones/computers at Kamp, so make that last snap or phone call to mom before you get here. You can have them back on time-off.
If you bring it to Kamp, put your name on it. Lots of staff and lots of kids means lots of lost and found. Just put your name on it.
There is more than one way to do laundry while you are here. You can send it with our laundry service or do it at a local laundry mat in town.
Don’t be that person without a fun party costume this summer. Grab those fun sunglasses, crazy disco pants, or that wild chicken mask. It will be awesome!

Life is better at Kamp, but bring some casual clothes for time off in town with other staff.
Tips fromOTHER STAFF
MUSICWe love music but we only play explicitly Christian Music at Kamp. All smart phones, iPads, and computers are turned in to the office at the beginning of your employment term.
If you pack your stuff in a trunk, just make sure it is less than 15 1/2 inches tall or that thing won’t fit under the bed. Big duffle bags or large suitcases are pretty cool too.
TRUNK IT CAVINGIf you are working at K-1 or K-2 this summer, bring an old pair of jeans and long sleeve shirt for caving. You won’t want them after you are done.
Modesty is in style here at Kamp. Double check what you’re packing! Athletic attire and modest clothing is a must! Girls, tempo type shorts, T-shirts, and one piece speedo type swimsuits (nothing low cut) are ideal. Tank tops must cover bras and bellies. Leggings must be covered. Guys, no low shorts that show underwear. It is our heart to model clothing that is appropriate and honors each other.
MODESTY
Get ready for some of the craziest parties this summer at Kanakuk. We love to go big and go loud, so dig those funky costumes out of your closet and bring them with you to Kamp as you dress to impress. Staff are expected to be in party costumes, so make it awesome!

We are passionate about sharing the gospel with kids and families at Kamp! The bridge illustration is one tool that we use. Please hide these verses in your heart and come ready to share the truth of the gospel.
This summer, we will be studying the book of James inductively as a staff. Start reading through James and begin preparing your head and heart before we dig into God’s Word this summer!
