The technologies from the process of constructing my

product

Initial testing / trials

• My first try at using Photoshop was mostly just using the Slice tool to copy one image to a blank document. Also I just played around with making backgrounds.

• At this stage my knowledge was pretty basic, as there was still a lot of colour cut around the image

• I did start using the wand tool to cut out the writing. This came out much cleaner and neater and I think worked much better.

School Magazine(s)• My parent magazine was the first one I did. The thing

I found hardest, and took longest was the picture editing:

• I had to make the picture less dull and dreary, so I edited out some building works, and I changed the cloudy sky to a blue one.

• The end result was pretty dreary, but this was typical in these sorts of magazines.

• The picture didn’t seem to ‘fit’ with the rest of the magazine, so just seemed put on without though. I really think I should of done a better pic.

• To make it less dull, I used bolder and more colourful writing, and I used a black stroke around my writing to make it stand out.

• My sixth form magazine was much more colourful. I got more confident with using background effects using the gradient tool with loads of blending options.

• I think here I cut out my picture better, and it fits what I’m doing better. I used the magic wand tool here

• I got more used to the different fonts so was able to make my writing suit what I’m doing.

Custom fonts

• I started looking online for custom fonts, but I had to use the magic wand tool to copy it towards my magazine.

• I could still use all the blending options for these, so I did to make them stand out as much as possible.

Adobe Photoshop for my magazine cover and contents.

• By this time, I was much more proficient with using the magic wand tool, so there where not nearly as many ‘choppy’ parts in the picture.

• When I was doing my contents, I was a lot better at using the blending options, so I was able to give my text a rocky, cracked feel to them.

• On my cover and contents I used lots more of the line tool. To make the effect on my cover whereby the only certain parts of the title ‘FMA’ are covered up I just made a smaller line to cover over a specific part of the title.

• I used glows more here and I could also change the size of the stokes and glows, so I can totally change the effect of the writing.

Publisher

• Most of the effect on publisher where actually done from Photoshop, but then cut out and copied to the double page spread.

• I did have to make it so that it was a double page spread, so I had to make 3 pages, and not do work on the first page

• Also I had to make it so that the writing came into columns by splitting a text box up into two.
