General propeller application rules. There is no such thing as a standard, perfect propeller. A number of factorsinfluence propeller selection, among them the hydro-dynamic design of yourboat, centre of gravity, power to weight ratio, engine installation height, and ofcourse, the use to which the boat is put. Irrespective of the boat or engine youuse, you can be sure that MMPC will have a proper matched propeller to suit yourindividual requirements.

Four and five blade propellers improve hole shot as well as holding and midrangeperformance but top speed is marginally reduced. Faster propellers are generallyof smaller diameter and work best on light boats. By contrast, larger diameter,big-bladed props are better suited to larger boats. Heavy boats with a low powerto weight ratio mostly run faster with large-bladed propellers.

Hole shot – for good acceleration, waterski pulling power and mid range performance.Bow lift – for “light” boats, where the horsepower to boat weight ratio is high andadditional bow lift helps to improve top end speed.Holding – for offshore and inshore applications, high engine installation on boattransom, rough water operation.All-round – for easy cruising, holding on the plane with relatively low throttle settings.Speed – for the best top end speed and boat control. Various loads – for applications where the boat weight and operating conditions vary.

Consult the engine owner’s manual to find the recommended wide open throttleRPM range for your engine.

The propeller you select to use should allow the engine to operate within therecommended operating range at a normal boat load.

The outboard engine installation height will affect the RPM, by changing form analuminium propeller to a stainless steel propeller, stainless steel propellersgenerally may allow the engine to be installed higher on the transom and or

trimmed out further from the transom, always consult your dealer and check themaximum RPM to ensure the maximum RPM is within the recommended wideopen throttle range.

If the engine RPM is not within the recommended RPM range, select areplacement or upgrade propeller with a larger or smaller pitch using the followingrules as a guideline.

Adding 1 inch of propeller pitch will reduce WOT RPM by 150 to 200Subtracting 1 inch of propeller pitch will increase WOT RPM by 150 to 200

If you are upgrading form a three blade to a four or five blade propeller, the fouror five blade propeller generally reduces RPM by 50 to 1004 and/or 5 blade propellers versus 3 blade props usually- plane the boat faster.- Keep the boat on plane at a lower speed.- Improve mid-range speed at the same RPM- Provide quicker acceleration than most 3 blade propellers - Operate with less vibrations - Have better holding capabilities in rough conditions - Are less likely to ventilate in (sharp) turns- Provide better low speed handling- Are not quite as fast on the top end as a comparable 3 blade propeller

Caution operating the engine outside the recommended RPM range can causesevere damage to your engine and may void the engine warranty.Always consult your dealer and test the boat on the water after you have installeda new propeller.Diesel engines are generally equipped with an engine limiter, 2 and 4 strokeengines may be equipped with an engine limiter, if the maximum RPM iscontrolled by a limiter, and the propeller selected is too low in pitch the efficiencyand/or performance of the boat is poor.

Maximize acceleration and performance

ìÎÛ˜¯ÂÌË ÛÒÍÓÂÌËflË ı‡‡ÍÚÂËÒÚËÍ.

The exclusive Performance Vent System (PVS)maximizes boat engine performance.

Very few boats are fitted with gearboxes which in motor carsallow optimum use of engine power and torque. A boat’sgearing is therefore somewhat compromised, but MMPC’s PVSsystem effectively provides a “hydro-dynamic first gear” whichallows your engine to reach its torque peak quickly, therebyimproving acceleration.

Flo-Torq II makes the most of your investmentThere’s 60 years of experience behind the design of each andevery MMPC propeller. Efficiency and dependability are built-in

and new designs are subjected to severe and prolongedtesting to provide added assurance of optimumperformance.

The best is available for allThe Flo-Torq II hub drive system allows the fitment of world-leading MMPC propellers to almost any sterndrive or outboard, irrespective of the make.

The design of Flo-Torq II drive hubs also facilitates propellerinstallation and replacement and provides the added advantageof a cushioned drive which protects from impact, resistsslippage and flexes during gear shifting. Extra durability isprovided by a corrosion resistant spline drive.

Only the right prop will doFitting the right propeller type and right propeller pitch is vital inproviding the most efficient performance from your boat.Boating is more enjoyable, comfortable and smooth and mostimportantly, the right prop helps to lower boating cost byreducing fuel consumption and extending engine life.

MMPC manufactures a wide range of quality props includingaluminium, stainless steel, hi-reverse thrust and highperformance stainless steel. Your dealer will help you make theright choice.

Prop Sleeve

Hub corrosion is a common problem, but this is overcome in theFlo-torg II system thanks to the fact that MMPC uses brass anddelrin, an advanced non-corrosive plastic from DuPont that virtuallyeliminates the onset of corrosion.

In addition, the delrin sleeve of the Flo-torg system helps cushionunexpected underwater impacts by “breaking away” and therebyminimising damage to the engine, drive system and prop.
