This will be my last newsletter as your Exalted Ruler. My
term will be ending this month and we will have new offi-
cers installed for the New Year, beginning April 1st.
It has been an experience and an adventure. I am
so thankful for those officers and members who have
supported me this past year; it meant more than you
know. I ask that you please show the same respect and
support to the incoming officers who will be installed on
Saturday, March 19th at Noon.
As a reminder, it is up to the Membership to
nominate and vote for officers. By doing so, you are ask-
ing those officers to run your Lodge to the best of their
ability. The Membership brings ideas and concerns to the
floor and we either vote for or against; it’s all up to you.
This is not and never has been a dictatorship; nothing can
be done without the Membership approval. Anyone can
become an officer; it all depends on you and how much you want to get involved.
Our Membership has grown this past year and we
want to continue to see the growth. If you know of
someone you feel will make a great Elk, get them an ap-
plication and be their sponsor. Please reach out to those
new members and remind them of everything going on at
our Lodge. Have them volunteer for 30 minutes or an
hour just to see what we do and how well we do it; they
will be hooked!
Thank you again for all your support!
Thank you,
Sincerely, Lisa Cushing

Chicken Chit Bingo The 3rd annual Chicken Chit Bingo was
a success and raised $4,676.00 for our
own Scholarship Fund for EHS and PHS
students.
The event was once again a big hit!
Fun was had by all as we had a live
telecast of the nitty-chitty goings on
that could be seen up on our 60” TV or
up close and personal. We are very
grateful for the hard work of the many
people who made this event a success, but a few folks deserve special recognition: Karen Mueth for
the taco bar that was a new addition and a huge success, Kelly Lubker for running the raffles,
Melanie Mitchell and Andy Miller for chicken wrangling, and Harold Goodman for auctioneering for
the new live auction items. As emcee for the evening, once again Mike Cerutti was able to talk chit
for three hours - keeping the crowd entertained.
I would love to list everyone who made this a success including Jerry’s designer chickens, all the
bankers, and many more, but there is just not enough room. While it was a success, we are open to,
and looking for, any other input or ideas people may have to make this event even better as it con-
tinues to grow and provide resources for our Scholarship Fund.

Americanism Our third year of the Americanism essay contest was again a success. The theme this year was “What I Can Do to Promote Americanism and Love of Country”. All public and private schools with 5th thru 8th grade students were invited to partici-pate. We had 51 entrants this year from The Most Sacred Heart School - thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Bachmann. Final judging was completed and the winners all at-tended the Elks meeting February 9th to accept their awards. The 1st place winner of each division also read their essay at the meeting. A huge thanks to the judges, Fred Bunch, Brenda Wilsey, Melanie Mitchell and Kathleen Meier, who put in many hours reading and analyzing the entrant’s essays. Winning essays are on the board for you to read for a short time longer. This year’s winners are: 5-6th Grade 7-8th Grade 1st Ella Vergara $100 Abby Piontek $100 2nd Tristyn Lonon $50 Drew Walters $50 3rd Olivia Brick $25 Abby Rathouz $25
A late development…… District judging has been completed and Ella Vergara
has been awarded 2nd place in Division I at the District level and will now move on to the State level. I am working with Mrs. Bachmann (her teacher) to give her a sur-prise presentation in the coming weeks. So please if you know Ella keep this to your-self until she receives this award.

It is with deep sadness that we report the passing of a former Elk and friend,
Steve Hrin
"In vain we call. He has passed into the light beyond the valley of the shadow of death. The places that have known him, shall know him no more, but his virtues are written
upon the tablets of love and memory"

Notices Matt Burner, the current Lions President, presents a check to ER Lisa Cushing. The $200 check is from the Lions in memory of Mr. Hrin, and as a “thank you” for hosting the luncheon following Mr. Hrin’s funeral services.
Mr. Steve Hrin Sr., a solid member of both The Elks and The Lions Club, passed away recently, and was buried at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery. Mr. Hrin served in the Marine Corp and saw action in the Korean War. He was a very patriotic man who supported and served the troops his entire life. He had a big heart, great smile, mischievous sense of humor, and was always fun to be around. To know him was to love him, and he will be greatly missed.
Please Welcome these new members initiated into our Lodge.
We hope that you enjoy our Lodge facilities and participate in our many events both

Upcoming Events
Dear Elks Brothers and Sisters,
Last year you where part of one of the largest Veterans Fund Raisers the Eureka Pacific Elks ever put on. It is
members like you, and the community that make me proud to be a member of the Elks.
This year on Saturday April 30th our Eureka-Pacific Elks Lodge will be hosting another Veterans Fund Raiser
for The Focus Marines Foundation www.focusmarinesfoundation.org). This Missouri Veterans Organization
assists returning post 9-11 Soldiers from all over the United States. Some of our Vets are experiencing diffi-
culties trying to adjust back to their normal lives. They feel isolated, hopeless and worthless. This Organiza-
tion will help them learn how to get back to feeling normal, set goals, become active participating citizen and
family members that they once was.
But they can’t do this alone. They need our help. Freedom isn't free and unfortunately a lot of Veterans do
not get the help, support and care they should be provided. Unfortunately, a lot of our Veterans lives will be
forever lost and forgotten because of our systems.
As a Member of this Lodge this is your chance to stand up and help our American Heroes. We understand
there are times it is hard to be at an event, so we are sending out a request for you to help us in the follow-
ing ways. Books of tickets are enclosed for 50/50, wheelbarrow of booze, and a shotgun (or cash) towards a
pistol. We ask that you please purchase, or sell the tickets to co-workers, friends and family. Extra tickets
will be available at the Lodge or you can call me at 636-938-6744 and I will make sure you can get them.
Please turn in all sold tickets & monies as soon as possible so we can keep our records up to
date.
For our auction items you can donate anything of value, nothing is to little. Remember all donations whether
monetary or auction items are tax deductible through our 501 (c ) 3 organization. Make all checks payable to
the EUREKA PACIFIC ELKS #2644 CARES CHARITY. In the MEMO: FMF Fund Raisers.
Remember we don’t have to do this alone, ask your place of employment, friends and family if they would
like to be a part of something great and ask them to come to the event that day. Extra flyers and tickets at
the lodge.
Thank you,
Steven C Jeffries
