I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
(and striking their breast, they say)
through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

GOSPEL & HOMILY Mark 13:24-32 CREED
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,
(all bow through “and became man”)
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Solemn Evening Prayer
On Sunday evenings during Advent, Solemn Evening
Prayer will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of
Lourdes.
Evening Prayer, also called Vespers, is part of the
Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office.
In the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church fulfills Jesus'
command to "pray always" (Luke 18:1; see also 1
Thessalonians 5:17). Through this prayer, the people
of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God
and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world.
This liturgy begins with the singing of a hymn,
follows with the chanting of Psalms, and culminates in
the sung proclamation of the Canticle of Mary (the
Magnificat). This Gospel canticle is Mary's song of
joy upon meeting her cousin Elizabeth, is a
particularly appropriate meditation during Advent as
we prepare for Christmas.
Solemn Evening Prayer will begin on Sunday,
November 29th at 4:45 p.m.; it will feature members of
the Cathedral music program, and it promises to be 20
minutes of time well spent!

We had our All Saints Party on November 1st and it was awesome! There was a great turn out with over 50
people dressed as saints who enjoyed games, snacks, activities, trick-or-treating with the saints, raffle baskets,
and a concluding procession and litany.
A special THANK YOU to our amazing Junior and Senior High Youth Groups and leaders who hosted this
event, with help from the St. Thomas Aquinas Homeschool Network, most especially Kathleen Kittilstved!
We would also like to thank the Knights of Columbus for providing security for this event, ABBA's Book
Store for their time and many wonderful Saint items to purchase, Christy Breedlove who donated two
beautiful cakes and volunteered her time, and of course the Cathedral Staff, who make fun family events at the
Cathedral possible!

Scriptural Reflection November 15, 2015 — Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dn 12: 1-3; Ps 16: 5, 8-11; Heb 10: 11-14, 18; Mk 13: 24-32
There is something fascinating
about stars. Even though science
explains them to us, identifies
them, and makes us realize they
can each be very different, our
perception of them is the
thousands of “points of light” in
our night sky. Our readings
today deal with Christ’s Second
Coming, the end time. Part of
the message in these readings
has to do with our preparedness.
If the Lord would come today, are we ready? Are our lives in order that
we might be counted among those united with the Lord in Heaven?
The First Reading from the Book of Daniel speaks of the stars;
comparing the night sky to wise and good people: “…the wise shall
shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament.” Daniel reminds us
that to be truly prepared, we must seek and find righteousness.
“Righteousness” is defined as “behavior that is morally justifiable or
right.” Nevertheless, the Greek word in the Bible that we translate as
“righteousness,” as is often the case, means more than that. It deals with
our conduct in relation to others also.
To be righteous we must aspire to goodness, but we also must follow the
admonitions of Christ to love one another. When we look at the night
sky, are we one of the stars, one who leads others to justice? Practicing
stewardship helps us in that regard.
