~Before~

Before they were the famous Three Stooges that we all know and love, the Stooges

started out as a Vaudeville act in 1920 with a main man Ted Healy. They performed an act

called “Ted Healy and his Stooges”, only grouped with Shemp and Moe Horwitz (Larry was added

later). They toured around the country, performing comedy slapstick in multiple

vaudeville theaters.

~The Start~

They split with Healy in 1934 once and for all due because of Healy's alcoholism and abrasiveness. Parting ways to go to Colombia in 1934, the “new” Three Stooges; Curley, Larry and Moe; began their

journey into the short film business. Shemp left the group in the beginning of their entry into Colombia

pictures.

period of 25 years (averaging at about 7 shorts per year) with a total of 220 shorts. The Three Stooges’

fame sky rocketed seemilgly over night. The Stooges’ brand of slap stick tickled the sides of ALL ages, bringing some laughs in the depression age.

~End~

The Three Stooges truly ended in May 4, 1975 when Moe died of lung cancer not too long after his life long friend Larry died of a stroke-induced

cerebral hemorrhage on January 24, 1975. Attempts to continue failed with hard times

(seeing as some of the replacements died too) and it was truly an end to the once famous and

beloved comedy trio.

~Memories~

The Three Stooges remain wildly popular with audiences even today. Their films have never left

the television screen since appearing in 1958, continuing to delight old fans while attracting a

new legion of enthusiastic admirers. The durable act endured several personnel changes in their

careers that would have permanently sidelined a less persistent performance.

The Three Stooges will not be FORGOTTEN!!
