The Truth about Hair Colouring

Many women nowadays are willing to pay for different types of services just to look beautiful. From make-up to hair treatments, they value their appearance more than ever. A good example is hair colouring. The crowning glory is an important asset for many women. Some may or may not like the colour of their natural hair, and some just want a change. This is why hair salons are continuously growing in demand.

Why Women Love Hair Colour

About 75% of the world’s population has natural black or dark brown hair. This colour dominance is thanks to a big percentage of people from African and Asian countries. Medium brown to blonde hair, which is common in Australia and other countries in the west, make up 24% of the statistics. The remaining 1% goes to the redheads.

Statistic Brain Research Institute, a site that aims to educate and assist people with figures on different matters, revealed that about 69% of women feel more attractive after colouring their hair in some way. This is why around 35% of them sign up for full hair colouring services when they visit salons.

Does Hair Colour Cause Cancer?

In 1993, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) concluded that hair dyes were carcinogenic to humans. This is due to studies proclaiming that hairdressers and barbers exposed to such products increased their risks of bladder cancer.

In 2002, however, the Yale School of Public Health proved in a study that they found no connection between the use of hair dye and development of breast cancer among their 1200 participants. Another study conducted in Sweden also proved that modern dyes weren’t the cause of bladder cancer.

As long as women aren’t satisfied with their natural look, or have a desire to stay in shape and look attractive, they’ll continue to look for services that they think can bring out the best in them. This includes hair treatments like colouring.
