Parents/Carers,
The term is drawing to a close and there has been lots of great work being undertaken in all our
classrooms throughout the term. I have been observing lessons in classes and talking to students
about goal setting in readiness for the Three Way Learning Conferences coming up in the last
week of term. Students are keen to share their learning and goals with you so please take some
time to book in a time with your child/ren’s teachers.
Our Three Way Learning Conferences this year requires you to book a time to meet with the
teacher and your child. We are using an online booking system which is attached to our website.
This is the link to book the timeslots available for meeting with the teachers. https://
roseberyprimary.nt.edu.au/parents/student-led-conferences Please do this as soon as possible
and once a timeslot is booked, an email is automatically sent to our teachers and will put a red
cross on the timeslot so others know that time is taken. We look forward to seeing everyone
over the days of the 9th, 10th and 11th April. Book now and lock the time into your calendar.
I would like to introduce Mr Jarred Rees our new PE teacher who has joined our
teaching staff recently. Jarred is a Territory boy who has been living and working in WA
for a few years and has come home to teach. Please make him welcome if you see him
around.
School starts at 8am each day and finishes at 2.20pm and 2.30pm for Preschool. We have a
number of children arriving at school late for class each day. Can you please ensure your children
are at school ready to line up with the rest of their class by 7.55am when the music starts. Please
let me know if there is a valid reason for your child being late on a regular basis or if there is
anything we can do to assist with getting them to school on time to be ready for learning with
their peers.

ST JOHNS VISIT
QUICK MATHS WITH 1 RICH
AND NICHOLS
On 14th March the Community Education Team from St John Ambulance came to visit Transition and Year 1 Howieson. We learnt about First Aid, when to call 000 and had a look at the Ambulance.
Did you know that Paramedics have to change their own flat tires? Did you know that the button for the siren and lights is actually on the floor?! They need both hands for driving at all times. It was very interesting.
Students were very busy practicing their knowledge of addition facts through bunny ear doubles. During this activity students work in pairs using their fingers to form double numbers (bunny ears) while their partner recognises the double by calling out the number. This was lots of fun!
DANCE CAMP
Another very successful and productive Dance Camp for our 2019 Rosebery Dance Troupe. The students once again continued to amaze me with their attitude and willingness to take risks and strive for perfection.

What the kids like most about Dance Camp: -
We get to learn new dances and come together as a one big group - Jessi
Getting to know each other better – Jade
All of it especially uninterrupted dancing– Jye
Dancing all day long – Emma
The experience of being part of a big dance group - Zoe
New dances we learn and friendships we build - Dakota
STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
Last week all students who are in leadership participated in a
leader’s training day with Ms Beynon. Students learnt what
makes a good leader through studying qualities of a good leader.
Students also learnt about Restorative Practices and how to solve
minor conflicts in the yard. In the afternoon, students planned
activities and ideas to implement in 2019. Our next step is to talk
with Mrs Smith about the ideas the leaders would like to
implement.
DEFENCE NEWS
Hi, its been lovely getting to know our new students and chatting to
our returning students this term so far. Just letting families know
that we are planning an ANZAC service here at school on
Wednesday 24TH April. As it is the first week back after school
holidays and Easter I thought I’d give you lots of warning so you can
pencil it in your diaries.
The defence kids have already starting making some displays to
share on the day. We are also making a diorama of a WW1 field
hospital which we hope to enter in the DVA Anzac Day competition.
Thanks Amanda
