The Two Witnesses

• Revelation 11: 3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

• 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

The Two Witnesses

• Witness in greek is Martus. • Another translation of Martus is Martyr• As Christians we die only once.• Enoch and Elijah

The Two Witnesses

• Enoch• Genesis 5: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat

Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

• 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

• 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

• Hebrew 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

The Two Witnesses

• Elijah• 2 Kings 2:11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and

talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

• 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

• 13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

• Malachi 4: 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

• Enoch – Gentile before the flood. No Israelites yet.

• Elijah – When Israelites were in captivity and is a Jew

• 11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

• 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

• 13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,

• 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

• 22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:

Introduction of Two Witnesses

• Zechariah 4: 2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:

• 3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

• Zechariah 4:11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?

• 12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

• 13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

• 14 Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

• Ones in hewbrew Ben(bane) mean sons , Group of young men, or People of a nation

• Two annointed ones or two annointed groups of people

The Two Witnesses

• In Daniel chapter 12 we have similar scenario.• Man standing on water. The Lord and two

standing on each side of the Lord- the two Annointed ones.• Daniel 12: 5 Then I Daniel looked, and, behold,

there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river.

• Clues who the two annointed ones represents can be found in Joshua as he is talking to the nation of Israel.

• Joshua 24: 2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

• 3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

• Through Isaac grandsons through his son Jacob became the nation of Israel. Gentiles –other side of river. Israel this side of river where God separate his people.

• Flood comes from the Hebrew word that means Nahar• Nahar translated into english is stream or river.• Revelation 22: 1 And he shewed me a pure river of

water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

• 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every * * * month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

• A tree of life on either side of the river, Jew – Gentile.

• Revelation the two witness 11:4 The Two Olive Trees

The Two Olive Trees

• Romans 11: 17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

• 24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

The Two Olive Trees

• Romans 11: 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

• Genesis 15: 16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. (fulness of gentile come in)

The Two Olive Trees

• Israel was able to move back into their land in 1948. Now God will deal with Israel and their blindness shall depart. Natural olive tree is back. The wild olive is still here.

Candle Stick

• Revelation 11:4 the two candle sticks• Revelation 1: 20 The mystery of the seven

stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

• Two Candlesticks – two churches.

The Word Church

• The word church comes from the greek word Ekklesia

• The Greek word Ekklesia means called out assembly or people who are set apart.

• Matthew 18: 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them

Two Witnesses

• The two Martres• The two annointed ones or annointed groups• The two witnesses Enoch, Elijah gentile Jew• The Two Olive Trees – Natural Olive Tree and

Wild Olive Tree• Two Candle Sticks – Two churches two called

out assemble Jews and gentiles.

Conclusion

• The two witnesses – two martyrs – Enoch, Elijah – two annointed ones(groups) – two candlesticks (two churches) is the body of Christ (Jews, gentiles).
