MARCH BREAKFAST FORUM
March 1
March Worship Theme: Integrity
Rev. Don Garrett, Facilitator
There will be a brief presentation, followed by a small-group discussion format and a reuniting later to share what we’ve learned on the topic of “Integrity.” Join in this adventure in speaking, listening, thinking, reflecting and sharing together in a new way; another way to live our values of compassion, nurture, and justice in our beloved community.
March 8 3
Some of the Uses and Abuses of Hypnosis and Self Hypnosis Bob Taetzsch, Presenter
Bob will share some of his findings from a lifelong study of the fields of Hypnosis and Self Hypnosis. His current focus of study is “Time Distortion with Hypnosis”, pioneered by Linn F. Cooper, M.D. and Milton H. Erickson, M.D.
March 15
The Biology of Memory, Part II
Frank Stone, Presenter
In this talk we will discuss the biology behind memory. We will begin by discussing cell resting potential, graded potential, and action potential; moving on to the crux: long term potentiation in the synapse by the activity of a particular receptor, the NMDA receptor.
March 22
Other People’s Religion Erol Ulucakli, Presenter
What do we really know about other people's religion and what do "other" religions know about our religion? We will attempt to critically review the current state of mutual understanding among the world’s major religions as reported in today’s media and what has happened on the world stage in the last few years that may have contributed to this apparent lack of mutual understanding.
March 29
Ukraine, Russia, and the West Doug Heath, Presenter
What would an informed but disinterested observer tell us about the war in Ukraine and our relations with Russia? While this would inevitably include criticism of Russia, the story would differ strikingly from the one presented in every American mass media outlet. This raises troubling questions for those who value robust debate in pursuit of enlightened self-interest and peaceful coexistence.
