If you haven’t visited our new salt water aquarium in Villa CC....well, you don’t know what you’re missing! These amazing sea creatures are not only beautiful to watch, but have enormous health benefits. Studies going back to the late ’80s have shown that gazing at aquarium fish reduces stress, and subsequently lowers blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure or you are just having a stressful day, take a walk to Villa CC and enjoy some peace and tranquility, while watching these lovely fish and sea creatures. Giving Back Benefits the Brain Giving of your time and talents often brings personal and emotional satisfaction. Doctors say no matter where or how seniors lend a hand, taking part in engaging environments, social interaction and mentally stimulating activities that volunteer opportunities provide creates new pathways in the brain, which can help prevent memory loss and cognitive problems. Because of their sense of purpose and accomplishment, volunteers also report feeling happier and more satisfied with their lives. An Evening to Remember! The Noteables, a mixed quartet of local singers, perform memorable songs from Broadway musicals and timeless classics from the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s. Join them on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. in Villa GG. STEP UP Into T.L.C. Inc. Sox, Nancy and Wayne Pull out your cowboy or cowgirl hats and boots, and join our friends from Step Up on the last Wednesday of each month, outside of Villa AA from 9 to 10 a.m. Ice cold lemonade will be served while we enjoy these beautiful horses and company. Employee of the Month! Tucson native Roxanne Curtis has been working for The Villas for over a year and is studying to become a Registered Nurse. She is a Certified Nurse Assistant, Caregiver, and a Patient Care Tech. “I’ve been taking care of seniors since I was 16 years old. I take great pride in what I do and always show respect while giving compassionate, loving care.” Roxanne enjoys going on walks, swimming, playing bingo at the casino and caring for our residents. Thank you, Roxanne!
