Dear Members and Friends:
Fellow member ELKS. Linda and I had a good time representing our lodge at the National Convention inAustin, Texas. The weather was hot (not as hot asPhoenix), but Austin is a beautiful city and we enjoyed it.
The major change in the statutes was that individuallodges can use a shortened version of the Opening and
Closing and/or the Initiation Ritual. This can only be done if the lodge approves it by By Law change, and the lodge can only use the “approvedversion” put out by Grand Lodge. At this time Grand Lodge does not havean approved version of either.
I am looking forward to the pleasure ofmaking dinner for you on August 11th, atthe Riviera Beach Bash. There will bemany other people involved in puttingthis event together. Please come outand enjoy and thank all of them for theirhard work.
Please remember the social quarters arefor the enjoyment of all our members. You are responsible for your actions andthe conduct of any guest you sign in.
For the ELK of the month of August, Iname Derek Hill ELK of the MONTH.Derek does so much more than he is required. Any time when asked he iswilling to give up his time to help withspecial issues to make sure everythingworks. Thank you Derek for all thatyou do for this lodge.
Sincerely and Fraternally,Tom Alexon PERExalted Ruler

The Vacant ChairA Nobel Elk has fallen,
pierced by the arrow of death. His trial ended, his faults forgotten,
his virtues cherished,
May He Rest In Peace.
We shall meet, but we shall miss him, there will be a vacant chair,
but though we no more possess him, still our hearts his memory bear.

HOUSE COMMITTEE REPORT
Let me start by saying the July 4th BBQ was a great success. While Tom and I missed it due to our attending Grand Lodge, we heard everyone had a goodtime and enjoyed the food and music. Based on what weheard, the House Committee decided to do it again forLabor Day on Monday, September 3rd. Same time; Food1 – 3, Music 1 – 4. Price only $10.00 for one half slab ofBBQ Ribs with all the fixins.
Do not forget the Riviera Beach Bash on August 11th, ERTom’s stuffed shells, large antipasto, dessert, music by Paul& Marie, all for $12.50. This is for the benefit of the lodgeduring our slow summer season. If you need tickets (mustpurchase in advance, not at the door), call me or see me onWednesday or Friday nights.
A lot of our members are out of town looking for coolerweather, but those of us that are here, can find a warm welcome and cool temperatures in the lounge. So pleasecome out and enjoy time with your ELK friends.
Your comments and suggestions are always welcome.

PER ASSOCIATION REPORT
The PER Association needs to clarify the "Wii Bowling"night information due to conflicting start dates on promotional posters. The Monday bowling night started atthe lodge on Monday, July 9th at 7:00PM, and will be heldevery Monday night at 7:00PM for however long peopleenjoy it. We had a respectable number of game souls showup for it's first night, even with the date confusion. Pleaseknow that a numer of the people who participated had neverplayed "Wii bowling" before, and I would guess that somehad never played a video game before. All found it easy tolearn, with some coaching from John Andrews, and soonthere were spares and strikes in everyone's column. Thanks to all who helped set it up, worked it, and those whoplayed.
The PER Association will be changing our meeting nightfrom the third Thursday of the month prior to the regularLodge meeting to the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00PM.This new schedule will begin on Tuesday, August 7th. Thereason for this change is so that our messages can be putin the upcoming Bellows in a timely manner due to it's printing date.
One of the things we will need to discuss at that August 7thmeeting is our continuing support of the Children's RainbowPark at the Nova Recreation Center which the Ormond Elkshelped fund and build in 1992. After twenty years it is inneed of renovation and updating, and we need to decideour level, if any, of participation in that project. We also needto contribute to our Golf Tournament for the Lodge, soplease attend our meeting.
Sincerely and fraternally,Joe Deckelman, PDDGER
