Future Ready Insights for HRIS Leaders

The value of a single HRIS platform post COVID-19 2

The shock of the pandemic on organisations across the world was huge, and no less so because the most important resource in any organisation was Human, the very target of the virus. HR has been elevated up to the most centrally important operational department in every business, people matter most, and protecting them whilst continuing to trade was the number 1 priority for us all.

Those who struggled all report the same issues: Poor Employee and Manager Self Service adoption, limited remote accessibility, lack of flexibility and adaptability, harder decision making due to poor data integrity and difficult reporting. All of these variables impacted the way that an organisation could react and adapt to meet the frightening rapidity and unknown path of COVID-19 as it evolved.

As we plan for a new, post-Pandemic world, joined-up data and joined-up thinking will be fundamental. “With COVID-19, the time to act is now”, Accenture recommends.1 “Deferred decisions and delayed actions have immediate and longer-term business continuity impacts. To minimize business disruption and protect employees, organizations must take steps now to analyse current technology capabilities.” Interoperability, data quality, report analytics and AI are all in line for mass, rapid adoption. Great HRIS requires easy to use tools for both employees and HR professionals.

The lack of end-to-end process makes any genuine data gathering and real-time insight all but impossible. And now couldn’t be a worse time for that to happen.

Interoperability for

Better Decision Making

The benefit of such single platform interoperability means you can plan, manage, and optimise global people processes with one common data source. This leads to making better, more agile decisions. You can also personalise your employee experiences, help employees find quick answers to HR questions with an interactive tool via chatbots, all with highly configurable workflows that offer scalability and localization (you can trial a demo of how this works, here).

During COVID-19 we have witnessed the urgent need to update policy and process. The ability to update FAQs via a chatbot has enabled HR service centres to maintain levels of service that would simply have not been possible with call centre staff kept at home or furloughed.

Crucially, a Cloud platform is accessible any place, any time. When Software Path gathered and analysed data from 1,028 HRIS projects active in the past year, it found that Cloud-hosted HRIS dominated as the preferred deployment method for over 97% of businesses.2 The desire for improved HRIS functionality largely came from businesses looking to improve and streamline administrative HR processes and consolidating disparate systems to cascade critical data, analytics and reports through any device. This is also key to supporting the requests of the five generations in the workforce.

An example of streamlining end-to-end processes is Oracle’s Search functionality: natively built into the platform, it is also predictive, offering suggestions on the best course of action. With chatbot and voice activation it can help guide users and drive productivity. Search and List of Values have been optimized for speed so that users can find what they need faster. Quick Actions are also suggested to users based on their role-specific usage patterns, making actions even more personal. Managing and navigating directly to tasks has never been so easy.

We designed Notifications so that users can either take action within the notification or drill down for more details. Notifications are easily configurable, so managers can personalise the information within them. Because we know that users will vary in their interactions with the system, we also enable notifications from outside the application. This means users can read and act on email notifications from anywhere, at any time, on any device.

“We selected Oracle Cloud HCM for our functional and digital HR transformation because it is easy to configure, deploy, update, and adapt to changing needs across a large, dispersed organization. Oracle Cloud HCM fits our business model perfectly, offering comprehensive capability as well flexibility and support.”

Transforming HR for 26,000 Fujitsu EmployeesWhen Fujitsu looked to streamline and standardise HR Processes for 26,000 Employees across 37 Countries, it turned to Oracle Cloud HCM for the solution. Traditionally, each Fujitsu legal entity operated its HR systems and processes independently. However, due to the global nature of the company’s operations, the siloed structure was becoming more unsustainable, as managers had no consistent people data on their multi-located teams, and regional strategic workforce planning became increasingly demanding. Our single platform transformed the situation for them. This lovely testimonial from Claire Findell, EMEIA HRIS - HR Business Lead, Fujitsu, speaks volumes:

If you need to consolidate, upgrade or strength-test your systems, then get in in touch. You’ll be surprised by how quickly we can help and how major the transformation can be.
