The Views

Dear FBCLS Family- Please join me in praying for some church staffing matters that are very important for the future ministry effectiveness of our church. 1. Please pray that God leads us to the right person to serve as our minister to students. We have a search team that is working hard to review resumes, conduct interviews, and seek God's direction for the future leadership of this important ministry of our church. 2. Please pray for the personnel team and me as we seek to discern the best path to take regarding the overall structure of our church staff. With Allen Baker's pending retirement, we want to take the opportunity to step back and ask God to show us what tasks need to be handled by our church staff, which current staff members are best equipped to handle which tasks, and what kind of person/people we need to hire to fill in the gaps when Allen steps down at the end of the year. I know that God has big plans to continue to bless the peo-ple of FBCLS, and to bless the community through us. Please pray with me that he will make those plans clear! Grace and peace,

Mobilizing our Ministry School has started again which means activities in the buildings have changed. The Summer Lunch program ended and FBCLS, along with some other churches in Lee’s Summit, made sure that many of our commu-nity’s children were fed lunch during the week days of summer. Now that school has started those kids can be sure of lunch, and sometimes breakfast, which means they will have energy to put into learning important things in class. Along the same ministry line, school began and our Teen Parent Ministry resumed with three little ones. We provide free childcare for these precious children so their parents may finish their high school education. Every day school is in session and the parents are in attendance, we care for their babies. We work with the school to encourage the parents to finish high school as another step to success in life. First Baptist has a mission and the mission includes caring for the community, including the children in the community. The church family is blessed to be able to participate in these ministries.
