I've been hunting for a girls cut t-shirt with a rocket on it. I hate it! It's been over a year and I still can't find a cute
one.
-- Erica Thach
My 2 year old LOVES matchbox cars, and when her brothers have on t-shirts with the cars on them she wants one - there are NONE to be
found! She also wants their shirts with airplanes and construction equipment on them
:)
-- Taralee Hurff
I would live to see dragon items for younger girls. Somehow dragons start out on toys and clothes for boys, and continue onto merch for
the teen crowd of either gender, but never make the transition into younger girls unless the dragon is so gentlefide that its barely a
dragon at all!
-- Cassie McCann
My biggest problem is really the packaging. Once it's out of the
package, a lot of toys are uni-sex, but the packaging directs it to girls or boys.
-- Rachelle Anderson
My 3 year old daughter just asked for Spiderman goggles the other day - pink
ones, but still.....we're making progress ;)
-- Amanda Mandella
Products featuring real-life female athletes. Products featuring girls as firefighters, law
enforcement, doctors, scientists, etc. Maybe dolls that come dressed up as those
characters. Children's books featuring women's rights leaders.
-- Leah
She adores the Muppets, but doesn't want Miss Piggy stuff...she wants Gonzo, Animal and Fozzie...and not just on black shirts or
dark navy.
-- Taralee Hurff
my 9 year old told me the other day that she wants to be a Navy Seal, "You know, to save people”
-- Karen Huffman
I see many rugged pants and shorts for boys - with pockets to stuff, but not so much girls'.
My girls love to put things in their pockets while they explore the world. Also, more
dresses with pockets and that will stand up to getting dirty in the water puddles and mud
pits.
-- Melanie Gomez
Is there a Pippi Longstocking doll/any kind of merchandise? There ought to be. I don't know what the copyright issues would be, but it's
pretty old. She is a wonderful, inspiring character and role model for girls. She's
physically strong, kind, fearless, and absolutely knows her own mind.
-- Emma Woodcock
My two year old loves trains, planes and automobiles. I am stuck
buying from boys section and I hate it.
-- Keely
I am looking at all the cute clothes my sister-in-law is buying for my nephew featuring race cars, planes, space ships, etc. and wishing they made them in "girl" versions for my
daughter who loves cars, planes and spaceships and whose favorite color is purple!
-- Jessica Pitelka Opfer
Books, toys, music, movies that focus on developing a positive self-image, fostering uplifting friendships, dealing with conflicts,
and featuring multi-dimensional female characters that are relatable across
the board -- Leah
My daughter (not yet 2) loves pirates, but a lot of the girly pirate stuff is sexualized. It's also
hard to find clothes in her size that aren't pastel (it's getting better, but so much of it
says "lil' diva" or "princess" or "spoiled" on it).
-- Rachelle Anderson
I think a simple but useful thing would be traditionally 'boys' toys, but with a female
angle. Everyone loves wooden trains/cars/aeroplanes etc. But how often do you see one with a female driver/pilot? so I'd like to see nicely made wooden toys in bright
attractive colours, populated by female characters.
-- Emma Woodcock
I just had to buy my daughter her 2nd set of Spiderman pajamas because she
outgrew her other ones
-- Honey Grodt
Girls like mobiles of stars, but why not include the moon and planets, and the
odd rocket?
-- Emma Woodcock
I think something like a "build your own" miniature garden would be a lot of fun, especially if it could have
plants in it that were kind of obscure and attracted interesting bugs. I think it would be a good idea because
it could definitely teach about science and would get girls outside to care for it. Besides that, it would have been something I would have liked to play with as a
child. :)
-- Kathleen Sykes
My 6-year old daughter says she would like tools that she can use to lift rocks so that she can find salamanders and other bugs in the garden. She would also like kid-sized gloves
and a kid-friendly magnifying glass for studying her outdoor finds.
-- Signe Withson
Little girls need (NON-SEXUALIZED) female superheroes, namely, Spider Woman. I think spider
woman should look just like Spider Man, only Pink. Yes PINK. Let's use the color in a new way, let's make it
represent strength, courage and integrity. It would be the first step forward before introducing a color shift for the toy industry - they want to sell pink to girls? GREAT,
but let's make pink with purpose, let's make pink DO something for once.
Let's let pink ......kick some ass. -- Amanda Mandella
But WHERE do you get a pink Darth Vader helmet??? Spray paint?
--Amy Gildemeister
more books, t-shirts, posters featuring women
of color, biracial women & children especially because usually when companies try to be
inclusive, they do a great job of representing defined races, but it's hard to find brown or
light brown-skinned curly haired people represented, and my 5 year old does notice
this
-- Leah
She LOVES bugs...not just ladybugs & butterflies...she is obsessed with ants
right now
-- Taralee Hurff
My daughter's favorite color is deep blue. We have been unable to find a cute blue backpack for girls. We've also had difficulty finding blue
clothing, jewelry, jackets, or hats for girls. While there is some turquoise apparel out
there, blue is quite hard to come by.
-- Christy Kobe
I suppose outfits for dolls are always a good thing too. Even princesses need a change of clothes sometimes.
So when they're not busy being princesses mightn't the dolls need to go off and do exciting things like being astronauts or pilots or doctors or deep sea divers or pirates or highwaywomen or lion tamers or jungle
explorers or mountaineers or cowgirls or police officers or bandits or...?
-- Emma Woodcock
My daughter & her friends love those Animal Planet playsets, but we've only found 1 or 2 with female action figures & they feel like the ones without girl figures were made
specifically for boys, and therefore, not for them : (
-- Leah
