LIBRARY WINNERS!
Summer Reading Club and Library Lovers Week were great opportunities recently for readers of all ages to win prizes,
as the photos on this page show.
Pictured with their certificates for reading 10 or more books
are Dylan, Fletcher, Mercedes and Georgia .
Well done to all the children who took part - 170 packs were given out in our Summer Reading campaign during
December and January. Official reading logs received back show over 140 books were read - a great achievement!
Lots of creative entries were received in the writing and
drawing competitions, with each entrant receiving small prizes in recognition of their efforts.
Adults had a chance to win too, with a free competition for
Library Lovers Week won by Norma Renouf.
Norma shown with Library Officer Joella, was thrilled with the chocolates she won during Library Lovers Week.
Free Theatre tickets to see “Paranorman” during the
holidays, courtesy of Chaffey Theatre, were won by 10
year old Kayshia Klingbiel.
Another winner is Ada Walladge, aged 14, who has been borrowing books for many years, loves reading and is
now a published author! “Heart‟s fire” published as part
of the Young Writers Program National Novel writing month, tells the story of a young girl who accidently sets
her neighbour‟s haystack on fire, and relates how the consequences of her actions change her life. Ada has
promised that we can have a signed copy of this book soon, so watch out for this promising young writer.
We believe everyone who uses a library is a winner, able to take advantage of all
the services we provide like our great range of
books, DVDs, CDs, CD
ROMs and magazines available for borrowing.
Children‟s activities, rhyme time, free computer
lessons, free Wi-Fi, free internet access - all
these make for a winning
combination! Ada with her novel.
“Winning is a state
of mind that embraces everything you do.” Bryce Courtenay, „The Power of One‟.
Congratulations to all our
library users! You are all winners!

WHAT WE’RE READING! You might be surprised!
Peg “Drink, Smoke, Pass out—an Unlikely Spiritual Journey” by Judith Lucy. If you enjoyed the TV series “Judith Lucy‟s Spiritual Journey,” you should enjoy this book. (Note - expletives are not deleted or spared so this book may not be for everyone.) To balance this one, try something a bit gentler and slightly quirky. “There Should Be More Dancing” by Rosalie Hams is an entertaining read. Sue’s just come back from Bali and was interested to read “Snowing in Bali”. by Kathryn Bonella, the same author who wrote Shapelle Corby‟s story. The “snow” refers to the drugs on the streets in Bali.
Virginia is now “sold” on the Touch Kindle finding it very easy to use and recommends “CSI Glasgow,” forensic thrillers by Lin Anderson. If you like Kathy Reich‟s books then you will like this author.
Jodie too is now a Kindle fan, loving the new Australian books we‟ve just added to the kindle collection this month, such as “Bridie‟s Choice” by Karly Lane. “Under Southern Skies” by Anne McCullagh Rennie is available both on our kindle and on our shelf.
Enjoying the free wi-fi are Luca, Mattia, Luca and Nicola all from Italy.
